AUSSIE favourite Paul Briggs is making a comeback to the ring and it could well start with a bang with a fight against man of the moment Danny Green.

The two camps have been in talks to stage a fight for Green's IBO cruiserweight title, which the 36-year-old won in 122 unforgettable seconds against Roy Jones Jr last December.
Green originally wanted Bernard Hopkins, but talks fell apart in spite of the fact the US superstar was eventually offered a 60/40 split to fight Down Under.
Hopkins will now fight Jones Jr, who has a rematch clause against Green. In the meantime, Green is searching for another opponent and Briggs has stepped forward to take the fight.
The former light-heavyweight champ retired in 2007 because of health problems, but rediscovered his passion for competition while commentating for hit show The Contender last year.

It was inside the house he became close to respected trainer Billy Hussein, who last night confirmed the Gold Coast-based 34-year-old was on his way to Sydney next week to ramp up a comeback.
"Paul has been training and is in very good condition," Hussein said.
"He's coming down next week to have a chat."
Hussein knew nothing about negotiations with Green, but the latter's manager ****** Manolikos said the match-up was a possible option.
"There's been an approach and we've had an informal chat over the past week," Manolikos said. "It might be good if Paul had one fight before he takes on Danny, but we're not ruling anything out."

I don't think Green has much of a chance against Briggs.

briggs has been out a long time. but i think he is considerably better than green, in terms of power and fundamental boxing skills. hope it happens and hope that it works out for briggs, one of my fave pressure fighters.

Briigs imo would probably lose to Green right now. If you wanna talk about a 2005/-2006 Briggs, Green would most likely get his ass whiped.

I think Briggs should stay retired cause he had health problems and would most likely pose a risk. But Money talks.... if this fight does come off tho, Briggs ftw!

come on briggs!! have one or two low risk tune up fights to get the timing and confidence back and then go for green, if he rediscovers his form from 2005-2006 he will be very live underdog in the fight... he is one of my favourite fighters so i hope he goes for it, he atleast deserves one big pay day, and you know if he wins maybe he can battle adamek a third time for a big pay at cruiserweight(just dreaming now)

It would be good to find out what was wrong with Briggs....I heard that he was getting dizzy spells and losing balance.

I'm sure he will undergo all sorts of health tests before getting back in the ring.

I thought the health concerns were a bit much for the Green camp and they lost interest in the fight.....I guess if Briggs comes back and KO's 1 or 2 guys that will make enough noise to get the fight signed.

Yeah some kind of neurological disorder, hopefully it was nothing serious and just a precaution he took to have a break from the ring.

I hope he belts green so I don't have to see him do that ridgey didge telephone signal with his hand ever again.

As i have stated before this is a mistake. Briggs didnt retire due to some little problem. He could hardly stand straight. By his own words: i would be at the post office falling over and people thought i was drunk!

Leave it alone Briggs your health isnt worth it.

If he's over it perhaps there's an argument for him to have another go - it is 3 years now and he'd certainly know by now whether the condition has gone or not. But if it's still there or might return, perhaps worse, stay the hell away!

    Reckon a 2010 Green beats a 2010 Briggs. But 2005 might've been a different story!

If he's in form I think Briggs can handle the go-forward of Green, and although Danny has looked sharp his opposition made him look good. Green should chase another big OS name and Briggs should have a couple of warm ups first, it would be better for both and help build the fight up more, maybe Briggs is looking for a quick payday. Mixed feelings about this . . .

Sadly I have not seen Paul fight :verysad I would love to see Green & Briggs in the ring.

A good pay day for his past achievements is warranted, lets hope Paul's health issues are sorted out.
