Paul Butler - Pure Class.

Agreed, Butler looked very impressive

 

It's all well and good looking good against a TTG, he's comfortably the best in Britain but that means absolutely **** all, domestically Super-Fly is shite, if he was pure class he'd have beat the **** out of Sexton..or at least completely outclassed him, even with the weight disadvantage, but he couldn't.

If I was him or anyone at the lower weights in Britain I'd get myself out to places like Thailand and Mexico, get some quality tough sparring, it's the only way for a guy like Butler to progress IMO.

Butler could have won the British title on his pro debut, that's how shite the division is.

 

Some good fighters in the division such as
Yafi, Conlon and Sexton to call these fighters
Shite is disrespectful

Domestically, Super Fly is As good as Euro level (I know it's still a huge step up to World Class) but the Sexton fight was Butlers 8th fight. It wasn't a complete shut out but it was a good enough display to have been able to say Butler was easily the classier of the 2, and taking into account it was Paul's 8th fight, the blatant disregard shown making the weight and the awful tactics displayed by Sexton I'd say it was a GREAT performance.

Butler is progressing superbly (albeit in a division where the domestic/euro class is a wide mark off World class). He's doing exactly what you'd expect a future Champion to do. He may or may not become a World Champion, that's each to your own opinion but as of now he's doing exactly what you'd expect him to if he is to progress (probably in a better fashion than expected)

 

He will be the next British fighter to win a world title IMO, Selby, Frampton of Quigg might get there before him but I'd go with Butler

Already did for his last fight. Why though? He was making Bant. too easily and can make super-fly.

 

I really rate Butler, future world champion imo, very early to say that but I think he will do it

 

The gap between domestic and world level at the lower weights is dramatically higher than any other division.

Yafai v Butler will be a good fight next year.

 

I don't get to watch him a lot but when i've seen him he looks like he has real quality. I however agree with BA go and get top quality sparring abroad and ready himself for the climb up the ladder.

You want to be used to the style of fighters from Asia and Mexico. TBH Butler is still young so it's about educating him with learning fights right now. European title is the next aim and make a defence or two and edge up rankings after that you'd like to think a international opponent could be brought in.

It's what i like about Frampton's development. Even Joe G said same he's getting a mixture of styles. It's imperative that Butler gets the quality work and schooling in fights so that if or when he reaches world level he's got the experience and understanding needed not just the quality of technique and application of skill.
