I was out and missed all the boxing but must admit that I was expecting to hear that butler had beaten hall inside the distance so I will give props to hall for doing much better than I thought he would

An 8 round difference in 2 of the judges scores.

I didn't see the fight, was it possible to just "prefer" either boxer so widely different?

I thought butler took the first 6 easy Iv not watched it on tv yet but from ringside it looked like butler took the first 6 no problem then shared the last 6!

I had Butler winning by 3 rounds. Good fight, although Butler definitely looks too small for this weight.

He definitely wouldn't be able to win against a genuine world level fighter (No disrespect to Hall but he's high-Euro level/World gatekeeper level) at this weight.

No one can honestly say Butler did enough to beat the champion. No way.

    Thats a ****ing ridiculous statement.

The majority on here seemingly had a round or two in it with all admitting there were lots of close rounds. Your 'Anti-Frank' bitterness seeps out of you so clearly, you was whinging like **** as soon as the fight was made about Butler getting his shot and now he won you just cannot stand it can you.

Do you think it was fair Butler got the shot? Seems like he will vacate and move down as well. Makes a ****ing mockery of the belt.

I guess those who scored it for Butler like ineffective flashy shots that hit the gloves.

Stuart Hall deserves a shot back at this one way or another.

The box nation commentators were creaming over butler throwing powerless straight combos at Hall's gloves. Was doing my nut in.

I missed the first six rounds but neither guy looked like they have the punching power to be top level fighters.

You missed the first six rounds so don't think your opinion on the fight going to be very accurate butler won this fight and said he would give the rematch which would have the same ending

I thought Hall just nicked it. Close fight.

Gotta feel sorry for Hall who has been used and will never get a rematch.

    117-111 is truely ridiculous.

Fair? Whats not fair about it? His promoter put it to Hobson with some decent money (presumably as it was clear Hall didnt fancy it) and they decided to take the fight. They risked losing the belt taking on another Voluntary so who's it not fair on?

In terms of whether he'd merited a shot with the IBF at Bantam, you could clearly argue no, but this happenes all the time with the Alphabets, I dont remember having seen you so upset about it before?

And in terms of flashy punches landing on the gloves, like I said I was in pretty decent seats (at the show) and have yet to watch the fight back but having seen Hall's bright red face at the end of a lot of rounds (presumably blood as he started each round with a face which wasnt as red) and seeing their respective faces later on in the evening I think its fair to say that Butler clearly connected quite often. Considering Hall is the naturally bigger man and clearly bigger set that Paul, you'd think that someone whom (in your opinion) was 'landing' the better shots to have at least marked Paul???

I had Butler up quite comfortably after the first 6 and I dont think Hall did nearly enough to merit these absurd claims he won the whole second half of the fight.

On a side note he personally (and the people close to him) let themselves down post fight too. If he thought he deserved the nod then thats fair enough but there were certain people who tried to console him ringside and offer words of condolence (without any sense of gloating or smugness) and he could've acted better in my opinion. Fair play with his tweet yesterday though. Always liked Hall personally and hope he wins another title (if Butler decides to vacate and drop down i'd love Hall to fight Cabellero)
