Olimpic gold medalist in 84 and Val Barker award winner as the outstanding boxer of the olimpics turned pro at flyweight and set his goal at winning world titles at six different weight classes from 112 to 126, looked pretty good beating Orlando Canizales in their first fight and in what was the high point of his professional career then went downhill from there winning a couple of fights against poor opposition before being upset by a guy with a 13-3 record, lost again to Canizales in his only world title attempt and finished his career with a record of 16(3Ko's) 4 losses.

Anyone knows what went wrong with him, was him just not that good (although he looked good against Orlando but that was a Fly version of Orlando) as a pro as he was in the amateurs? lack of discipline? What?

I think he ended up like Bojado. He thought he was a star and lost discipline.

Well his lack of power and hunger to chase the finish was a pretty major flaw. Yes its true that punchers are born and many boxers had fine careers without having much in the way of power. But when a guy goes his first dozen fights without a knockout, to me that points to mental/discipline issues.

By the way, how awesome is Darryl Pickney as far as journeymen go? Wins over a gold medalist like Gonzales and a win over multi-time champ like Junior Jones.
