Paul Malignaggi "Boxing is a joke of a sport"

This, and he is coming off a dismal performance where he basically quit fighting in the first round. His "big" win came in 2007 and that was against N'dou who is not exactly a hall of famer.

Pauly is one of the least exciting fighters to get TV exposure yet he has been in the main event at Madison Square Garden, soon to be four HBO main event shows, featured on Showtime, VS and they even made a documentary about his life. He is lucky that he is American because if he was the same boring, feather fisted fighter who instead came from Europe nobody would care. Boxing has many problems, but this seems more like preemptive bitching from a fighter who realizes that if he looses his time as a main event fighter is finished, something that should have already happened. He has no fans and has been living off talking a big fight without delivering.

 

WHOA WHOA WHOA! Hold it right there. Boxers are not saints themselves. Let's not forget that there are plenty of fighters that are scumbags. Fighters are just as guilty as the promoters, trainers, and managers. I am talking from firsthand experience.

 

Malignaggi has been battered in negotiations. But what does he expect after his performances in the Ndou rematch and vs Hatton?

Hatton has been knocked back several levels, so what does that make Malignaggi?

He should think himself lucky to have this opportunity vs Juan Diaz. Regardless of the weight and the ring size. It's obviously all getting to him and I reckon he's a beaten man already.

If Malignaggi was a better, and more exciting fighter, then he might be in a position to call the shots.
