This is just a home coming bout for Khan. He'll spend most if not all of the rest of his career in the states so he'll just keep the UK fans on board by occasionally KOing a taxi driver or two on home soil. Perhaps I'm being unfair, I'm sure McCloskey is a decent fighter but he's not Khan's level - that I'm absolutely certain of.

Khan's hand speed will be the difference imo.

McCloskey is a guy that likes to draw leads to counter, only whilst he's waiting around trying to draw leads for counter punching opportunities, I think Khan will be using his superior speed to get off first and move before he can counter. McCloskey will probably find those counters hard to come by because not only will Khan move after unloading, he will punch fast in combination, so McCloskey might find it hard to find the transition from defense to offense to counter in between those shots, as they will be in rapid-fire speed and combination.

What Khan will have to worry about imo, is that when he gets off first, fires those 4 punch combo's, that McCloskey is not able to punch inbetween his punches, cause if he is, he might land some sweet counters inbetween Khan's flurries with his left hand, as I reckon Khan will probably be throwing his punches from just off McCloskey's right shoulder, which might leave him slightly closer in range if McCloskey tries to throw the half hook, half left hand. I think if McCloskey is able to counter like this, that they will only be sporadic success, that Khan will be taking the rounds with his speed, activity, getting off first.

Will be interesting to see if late on McCloskey abandons his counter punching strategy and tries to be the aggressor, be the one getting off first, making Amir move more, fight at a harder pace that he would like, cause Amir's footwork has a tendency to get himself into trouble when he's pressured. McCloskey is possibly a better mid range fighter than Khan to.

I think Khan will win, that he might get caught with a few nice counters, but that his speed, movement, activity, combined with McCloskey's waiting, counter punching style, will mean he will be more active thus picking up more rounds and winning a clear decision.

Haven't heard of him either before this.

Mccloskey had a few years ahead of him before he hit the US radar.

McCloskey could win it, if he fights at his best.

Sure, just like one punch from Maidana would have knocked him out. For some mad reason, I don't place much trust in you.

I'd love to agree with you but I think Khan was struggling with making the weight at lightweight and this effected his stamina. I don't think his chin problems were as serious as people thought and either way he seems to have rectified the problem since moving up to light welter and going to the Wild Card.

I think Khan is one of those fighters who could go on to dominate the division and unify titles. Having said that, some people that have posted here have seriously underestimated Paul McCloskey. He is a very talented fighter with a very unusual style and I would be delighted if he managed to cause Khan problems and stage an upset.

Has anybody of you ever encountered a fighter openly declaring that he can't beat his upcoming opponent? :D

:? All he's saying is that of course McCloskey is going to say he's going to win, no fighter ever comes out and says they'll lose.
