a few of the posters on the irish thread think mccloskey can defeat khan....what do you think lads...i have always thought a crisp fast puncher like amir will give mccloskey all the trouble he can handle...but there are still big question marks over khans punch resistance...so i tentatively edge with paul to ko khan late on in a closely fought contest:think

i meant to add that frank warren has been in talks with john breen about the possibility that mccloskey could be khans first defence[reported in belfast telegraph]

Khan comfortable points win...although McCloskeys power has been improving I don't seeing it cause Khan great problems.

McCloskey needs to get the Euro belt first....i'd like to see how he will fare against M'Baye considering Lynes peformance in France.

McCloskey has the style to trouble anyone , real elusive and hard to hit , could give khan big problems , although i cant see fish eyes putting khan in with him imo

This is actually a good match-up - one of the more realistic ones that have been touted since the Khan fight.

I would stick my neck out and say Khan by UD, but it really is a toss-up.

It would be an excellent pairing, but first I would want to see Mccloskey win the European title, then Khan in a massive fight. Its a real tough call but Mccloskey for me.:thumbsup

I think McCloskey is a great counter puncher a stlyish fighter and never seems to waste a punch. I feel he hasn't got the power but the fight would be good fight with Khan rushing in McCloskey is a type of fighter who wont mind that and is a decent boxer on his back foot. I would be foolish to let my heart rule my head and say McCloskey would win but it would be a greater test than lasts nights fight was for Khan.

Kotelnik hits much harder than McCloskey and Khan is much quicker than McCloskey. Khan in dull UD

I hope Frank Warren, Amir Khan and Freddie Roach all think that way.

I'm not sure how McCloskey v Khan would turn out, I'm waiting till McCloskey beats M'Baye before I even think about it. It's certainly an intriguing fight though, one that really gets you thinking.

Well i asked Amir about it last month and he'd take the fight
I genuinely think Amir would fight anyone its Warren that keeps him on the leash

I don't want to rain on Khan's parade but clearly he is an extremely beatable fighter is Amir Khan. I think McCloskey will beat as would a number of other fighters at Junior Welterweight. Khan has a lot of inbuilt chronic weaknesses that will be exploited by the beasts of this division of which there are many.
