Thought I'd get this in early. I'm really looking forward to seeing McCloskey again after he dispatched of Lynes so impressively. Even with the disapointing change of opponent. How about you? This content is protected
Looking forward to this. Good interview with McCloskey in BN today, seems like a really nice guy. Says he'd like to win the Lonsdale outright and then challenge for the Euro belt. Says he'd like to face Ajose (who's his mandaory) and then move on to the world scene. He thinks he could beat Kotelnik and Urango and win a world title.
I think he could beat Kotelnik, honestly. When I think of Kotelnik I think of a better more mentally strong version of Lynes. But ultimately, McCloskey eats that style for breakfast! :smoke Urango would be a different story. That's real tough, Urango is a brute and McCloskey does his best work in the pocket. It would really depend on whether McCloskey can diffuse Urango's power, and outwork him with his speed inside. McCloskey beats him if he can stand up to Urango's power, but its a big question mark.
an hour and a half left Im looking forward to seeing McCloskey again. I havn't seen any of the Harrison. Paul Appleby is also on the undercard against Juan Garcia Martin 15(8)-6(4)
only thing that worries me with mccloskey was when lynes caught him early on. he managed to stay on his feet, but he was really hurt and lynes is not a massive puncher at all. with that style he has, he always runs that risk and if a guy like urango hit him rather than lynes then it would be lights out.
I was reading about Dean Harrison today and watched a blurred video from a hand held camera. His fight with Haywood was apparently really close. He was also cut and busted up by Gary Reid, winning by a couple points. Supposedly he is a good textbook boxer that relies on the jab, but no power. Really sounds like he won't cause any problems tonight. He will have a struggle to get a jab going and will likely make no impression on McCloskey. McCloskey will be free to tee off with 3,4,5 shots. If he's prone to cuts also I don't see him lasting the distance at all.
If he has a good jab i think we might be seeing a real good display by McCloskey at least. His record is terrible looks like he took a big step up to face Haywood and got beat.
Just checking the undercard to see what treats await us...pleasantly surprised Grzegorz Proksa vs. Lee Noble Paul Appleby vs. Juan Garcia Martin Troy James vs. Ibrar Riyaz Appleby...WTF? Was anybody aware he has this warm up? Risky.
Appleby's fight is only a 6 rounder. The guy he is fighting seems really bad by his record. Also he is coming up 1 or 2 weight divisions i think Appleby will ko him.
Anybody can headbutt. Appleby fought far more recently than Lindsay. Does not make sense to me, but clearly they feel he needs to warm up against a bum rather than quality sparring :huh Anyway, I hope they show Proksa instead of these English bums as he seems an interesting prospect according to Poles. Also Troy James had a promising debut, nice style, lets see him Sky.
Still a very stupid move from the Appleby camp i think. Not seen or heard of the Pole or Troy James i'll look out for them. On paper it looks a very bad undercard hope im wrong. Who is Steve Williams anyone seen him before ?
No and I don't really want to. I shouldn't judge a book by its cover...but his record and name is completely uninspiring. Not a great undercard but I've seen worse, at least there is some quality with Appleby. I'd like to see Proksa but I'm not hopeful, he's been on a Sky undercard before and was snubbed.
If he gets the KO i think they will show him. Looks like it will be McCloskey, Appleby and the Williams guy with some **** story that will make me get behind him.
Dunno. He KO'd Taz Jones who is a more recogniseable name than this chap and he didn't get shown. **** Steve Williams...whoever he is
