So questionable that McCloskey didnt even throw at it?

Id give McCloskey more of a chance than most, because it would be a horrendous style matchup for Maidana, but Id still fancy him to eventually stop him.

U ******ed ****, wasn't Maidana supposed to knock Khan out in Round 1 from the wind of his first punch? Of course since he didn't & he lost, Maidana is now a 'bum' but hey at least he's a world level 'bum' unlike McCloskey who's used to looking 'world-class' fighting against cab-drivers & bouncers in 2.5k packed leisure centres in Derry :patsch

Sorry, I know this is off topic, but why is it not financially viable for Mayweather to fight in the UK? In terms of PPV, I don't think it matters where Mayweather fights and if he came to the UK and fought Khan, I actually think they could draw a bigger crowd than the US. If Haye and Klitschko can do 50,000+ in Germany, think how much Mayweather vs Khan would do here?

With the exception of Pacquiao at that stadium in Dallas, I can't think of any US fights drawing that sort of capacity.

PPV in England will make a lot less than PPV in America.

:rofl That's the way to set up a fight!

    'Fancy a fight, mate?'

    'Yeah alright'

    'Thanks. See you soon xxx'

    Though I don't fancy McCloskey's chances.

Absolute B.S is this potential fight, no way it happens! Maidana has Bradley, Alexander, Peterson and Morales to fight potentially but no he chooses a guy that wanted to hide against Khan and would of lost by 108-120 if it had of gone on. Utter tripe to believe he is 'world class' and he should be looking at regaining his Euro title and then lookibg for another crack at world honours.

IMHO Dudey just aint got the talent to contend with the top10.

You certainly could potentially get bigger gate takings in the UK or Europe.. but when it comes to highly publicised major bouts, gate takes a huge backseat to PPV takings due to the gulf in revenue.

You have to do it in the primetime of the largest PPV market simply because there is no other market where you can beat - $55 dollars x 1.5 million buys+ before you even start on revenue from foreign broadcasters ( also the fact that even despite the 4.30am Mayweather Khan would do reasonably well on UK PPV ).

If you did it in the UK they would be looking at £11 x 750K, which although good for our population size , it's a fraction of the revenue even taking into account large gate takings.

In short, unless everyone involved wants to crap away tens of millions of dollars. It won't happen.

But if they made them fight at 3 in the morning UK time, why should it matter in terms of PPV where the bout is actually staged? American's would be getting the fight at the time they want. So, London or Vegas, why would that matter for PPV?

Well, you could.. but if you take into account keeping people in an arena until 4-5am in the morning and the issues involved with that, also factoring in issues people have had in the past attempting late starts and that the whole idea of doing it in the UK is because of the turnout etc, which would be significantly effected by such a start time.

It becomes very difficult and ultimately you begin to question whether it's worth doing a 4am with the benefits of it being in the UK diminishing.
