This fight was supposed to have happened back in 1962 but got called off for some reason. Pender gave up the middleweight title shortly afterward and retired. Who do you think would have won?

Torres....Pender was a fireman from Brookline Mass.who beat SSR for the title
and was the only fighter NOT to lose a rematch to Robby! Lost to the UK's Terry Downes...and regained the title! Good fighter.....

Pendler is pretty underated. People like to thown that shot Robinson BS, but Robinson was still great. Hell Suger Ray would go on and box the ears off of Fullmer in that "Draw" fight. Robinson won pretty easy. And not to long before, he had the 2 fights with Carman.

Yes it may not have been "Prime Robinson". But it was still a hard Robinson for any one to beat imo. Than he beats Carman and Downes in some classic fights, and retires.
He is highly underated. And could be a hand full vs any one. I think Pender has a great shot vs Torres.

It is hard to beat a Champion...especially one who thinks he gets
    "no respect" (JoeCal???)

Torres would have to be at his very best, and maybe have to land
a "killer" body shot like he did against Willie Pastrano to keep from getting outpointed by Pender.

Pender at his best, just may outpoint Torres.
    Tough call.

Actually would have been an interesting match. Pender was a slick boxer with a nasty jab, sound defense, and enough power to make you respect him (dropped Basilio in his last fight). Torres was very skilled, though, and I think he might have possessed to versatility and power to pound out a very close decision.

    Pender is very underrated though.
