If I was his manager I wouldn't put him in with Groves.

It's an accident waiting to happen.

I have read both threads on boxrec, and here, and the main thing that comes across is Rob Palmer is bitter as **** about Paul Smith for some reason, and people are not going to get an answer on the Groves question, and in all fairness, why should they? Groves is not near a mandatory position.
Onwards and upwards, for both fighters. As for Dilks, i am afraid it smack of desperation. Surely he should be getting on to his management team regarding this, rather than calling every ****er out

:deal. And to do it on a fans boxing forum is just laughable. I'm sure he did it once before slagging Belew off and Warren offered him the fight but Dilks rejected it.:rofl:lol:

The thing is you can understand someone's frustration if they aren't getting the fights they want, or moving on in their career as they would like, but surely this kind of frustration should only be vented on promotors/managers.
You are asking for people in the same weight class to pick holes in your agrument if you make it public.

I honestly dont think either boxer comes out of this looking bad.

Dilk's called out every smw, showing he's willing to fight anyone (he might be a bit misguided in how he done it, but fair play).

Smith came on to defend his corner. Fair play.

Nothing wrong with Dilks wanting to fight anyone out there, and i respect him for that, but thinking he has the right to fight anyone is a different thing. These things are normally earned.
I think this is the problem with Groves wanting to fight Smith.
Why should that fight be given to Groves right now? Based purely on talent, and potential, rather than having learnt the pro trade properly (only 9 pro fights of course).
Smith has got no obligation to anyone other than himself and his family.
Fair play for Groves wanting the fight, you can't knock the lad for that, but he needs to be put on a leash.
I expect Smigga to be moving on as soon as the Lonsdale is caputred outright.
Would that be the case should he win the next fight?

Jeez readin this thread was good fun. Hopefully Dilks gets himself into position to fight Smith at some point soon. Neither are great so it should make an interesting fight while DeGale and Groves come along to mop up the winner.

I don't see why Smith fans are so adamant that Groves isn't ready.

He's as deserving as any of the other potential challengers - why not take the chance to knock off a highly touted prospect?

I don't for one minute think Smith is ducking him - after all Groves hasn't yet been made mandatory.... and an offer hasn't been made. If the money is right I think Smith would take it.

I don't see what is in a groves fight for smith,he needs to be movin on from domestic level now. For all we know they may have been tryin to get him a bigger fight and failed,so they've taken Mcd as a voluntary to keep him ticking over in the hope that the next fight moves him on to the next level?

I think you could be right there Beeston, with regards to the money. But Groves needs Smith more at this stage in his career. Put it this way, if Groves was Mando, then I don't see Smigga having any trouble stepping in the ring with Groves. Groves is only doing what other prospects do at his stage of career, winning convincingly against learning opponents, some of which are limited, and some who will give a sterner test.
Adamu was outgunned, but IMO the stoppage was premature. I just think Groves would be a bit soft to throw all his eggs into one basket at this stage in his career. Because let's be honest, Smith is seasoned, takes a dig well, can box and punch himself, and is the champion. To climb to the top of the domestic pile is not easy.
I think Groves should be looking at Quigley/Dodson/Anderson, or just get it on with Degale

Groves would stop Smith without too much effort going on how both have performed recently. I respect Smith but Groves already looks a different class to him which is the main reason I am disapointed that Groves is messing about going to Yankland to fight in front of 4 people against a none opponent instead of making a big push on the domestic scene.

Can not blame Smith for wanting to move onto better things though, he has ambition and like any belt holding boxer believes he has what it takes to get to the next level so if he does get a euro fight or interim fight before Groves...ir DeGale get to him then that is fine..I'll cheer him on.

Dilks needs wins...more wins and hope...alot of hope to get another crack at a belt...he can put up a good fight though.
