Paul Smith won his first fight under Joe Gallagher with a devastating 1st round KO over Joseph Matolcsi. Obviously he has struggled to impress in his past few fights against Dodson, Quigley and DeGale but he must have been happy with this K.O. How do you think he looks? Any different under Gallagher? I think he looks a lot better and a lot more in control, using the jab like he should, throwing the hook off it and landing some good counter punches. He just looks like he sets up his shots a lot better and utilises all of his punches rather than just lunging in with the right hand... any thoughts? :think

Nice work from Smith, but against who?

    He's going nowhere.

i think he thought more bout what he was doing rather than look for the big shot.

Put him in with Mendy or Martin Murray would be a big fight at the Echo

In this video he explains a lot about his time under the Vaughans. I hope it IS the new lease of life he talks about.

I dont think he will ever fight Macklin cos they are such good mates, but from what ive heared from very close sources he has handled Macklin quite handily in sparring. Hes my home town fighter and id love to see him in fights like that.

Yeah I think we would be jumping the gun a bit to talk about European at this point. Who's the Middleweight European Champ?

From what ive seen of Barker though I dont really rate him highly enough to go any further than where he is. Im actually surprised hes the European champ to be honest. Half-descent boxer but not that far ahead of Smith talent-wise in my opinion.

No, he has BEEN dreadful in his past few but he is a talented boxer. Even if he is domestic level.

He fought a guy who has lost just over a third of his fights. That is hardly going to prove that he has improved.

Btw check out 3:53 he gets hit with a left hook himself and you can see the effect on his legs.

Im not talking about the guy hes fighting, or how great Smith was, im talking about his form. The way he goes about his business.

...and Pauls legs dont buckle or stiffen after that hook. Its a surprise shot that he never saw coming but it didnt hurt him at all. Smiggas taken a hell of a lot harder shots than that and taken them well.
