Paul Smith - Running from boxing forums after Degale loss

i used to like Paul Smith. Then one time he attacked me for no reason. said everything I said was complete bull**** etc.

So I asked him to tell me what i have said about him or what comment he was paticuarly annoyed about because i was genuinley baffled as i have never said anything harsh agaisnt him i always liked him.

His response was "you scored the fight to Quigley"

100% thats what he said to me lol. I asked why thats such a problem plenty of people has quigley winning and he then started swearing and slagging me off.

everyone knows i rate his brother as one of my top prospects in the country. always talking him up.


His issue with ESB came from reading the Quigley & Dodson Round by rounds (they dont have many RBR's on boxrec) where he didn't perform out of this world. some of the comments could have been deemed harsh and many scored the quigley fight to quigley. thats why he thinks everyone on ESB is scum.

 

also i think allot of people give Smith stick just to wind up Avid. allot like giving irish fighters stick to wind up Slap.

 

some of the abuse some of the pro lads get on the forums is a joke though, i wouldnt for one second expect anyone to be licking there ass but constructive criticism yes thats fair but some of the personal abuse that gets dished out is a bit unfair, on a sound note pauls a good lad me him a few times dont find him at all arrogant unlike comments ive seen made!

 

ive met him twice, once after breaking his hand after the danny thornton fight and once at york hall, was happy for a chat both times

In his position, as a pro, you gotta take some things on the chin and if he can't accept defeat then he shouldnt go on forums full stop. There are some ****s on here and even bigger ones on boxrec so he's just asking for trouble. Bomber has had some harsh treatment and normally he is able to just say ' ok mate, your opinion '
pity smigga cant do the same. Maybe he has anger issues lol

 

i do agree with that, and like i said in an earlier, u gota be able to take critisiscm

 

the thing is its a boxing forum. every boxer in the world gets abuse. of the posters that come on here (gavin, bellew etc) they probably get it easiar than a normal boxer.

you cannot say anything critical now against Gavin without getting slagged of though.

 

Similiar to Paul McCloskey who slated fans in an interview...

Utter contempt for those who pay thier wages in a disgrace in any sport.

 

Ha ha it has crossed my mind. I've toned it down and become more reasonable as times gone by. He takes some fair criticism and an awful lot of shite. If people watch a lot of his after fight interviews he often says he realises his performance could have been better in some aspects etc, but a win is a win. That's what matter on any results business.
I have to say I agree with his drop to middle though. His last proper ko came there against Thornton, where he is quicker and does have power to worry opponents

At the time he was moved up to avoid fights with Barker & Macklin as there was nothing decent at Super Middle. I get the impression Smith is a great gym/sparring fighter. you always here how trainers love him but he doesn't put it together in the fights.
