Harsh that there Decy, I dont think its a bad call :rofl

On a serious note though. Smith wants to be thanking his lucky stars he has Warren on his side. That fight with Quigley (Even though I had Smith up by 1) could have easily gone to Quigley which speaks volumes about Smith considering it was a cagefighters 17 fight across the corner !

British is his maximum level. He needs to fight a complete BUM in order to bring back anything higher than the Lonsdale. Not saying the Lonsdale is anything to be ashamed of - I'd give my left arm to have won it - but when the words Paul Smith + World Title are put in the same sentence somebody needs a word with themselves

I dont get this not in Smiths class?? Smith has to be one of the most overrated fighters in the uk, hes crap, Dobson and Smith is probably a 50/50 fight.

    But..

If someone said i had to fight Paul Smith tommorow, i would'nt loose any sleep...!

    He's hardly Roy Jones...!

I out weigh him by over a stone, and i think i'm in better shape than him.

He's abit tubby a SuperMiddle Weight...

I'm not kissing no one's ass...

Dodson would be a hard fight (by the way it wont happen), but i think Smith would beat him, and has another level or two to go up from british level imo.
Didn't fight great against quigley, but i had him 2 up going into the final round.
Not a lot of love for paul here currently.
I can understand where the opinions are coming from, as some (and only some) performances have been slightly lacklustre. But Paul merits his british title currently.
I reckon, if he shows he is good enough to win the lonsdale outright, by beating the best british opposition out there, and he gets to fight at euro level, then people should start giving him his dues.
I feel he can acheive this.
Smigga v Dodson = smigga late stoppage

Paul Smith defends his newly won British super-middleweight title in an all-Liverpool encounter with Tony Dodson in February.
Smith won the title with a split decision over Tony Quigley in another Scouse derby in Liverpool last month – the same Quigley who had stopped Dodson in the 12th and last round of a thriller seven months earlier, so one would presume Smith holds an obvious edge going into this. Styles make fights, however, and Smith did not convince against Quigley, in a disappointing affair, whereas Dodson took Quigley to the well before his own well ran dry.
Smith has failed to push on since appearing on Contender III in the States in 2007, where injuries essentially ruled him out of the series after one winning contest. In those days Paul looked like one of the brightest prospects in Britain but then came a shock setback at the hands of grizzled Coventry southpaw Steve Bendall last year. Clever matchmaking since and big promotional backing brought him back but, despite his British title, little else about the 27-year-old today suggests he will develop into a world class pro, although he biffs heavily to the body and brings undoubted strength to every fight.
The same could be argued of Dodson, of course, who lost in three rounds to Carl Froch when he stepped up back in 2006 (from a body shot, which will interest Team Smith) and is now pushing 30, a pro since 1999. However, Dodson, a former holder of the British belt, is probably at the same level as Smith. This gives him a real shout and guarantees a cracking match in which the younger, fresher Smith has the strength and stamina to ultimately prevail.

  7. So is the fight confirmed? I was thinking Frank was doing all in his power to get the WBO strap on Smith as soon as possible.

Credit to Smith for taking the fight on if so.

still can't see this happening to be honest.
smigga has too much. although he hasn't pushed on as expected, still expect him to be at least euro level within 18 months

never said it wasn't. but why respond to every thread like your writing in the gaurdian.

infact ive never seen him put his opinion forward, just state facts about the fighters most already know. pal

  12. Smith vs Dodson in Stanley Park like Neary/Holligan would be absolutely huge.

In an ideal world, I'd love to see Smith get the WBO and defend against Dodson, be nice to see Tony with a World strap if he could accomplish it, he's been in a good few wars.

If you dont like me calling you pal, pal. I could throw quite a few other options at you if you prefer. Just trying to be friendly:good
