I think Smith is trying to thumb a lift to a world title shot before he gets derailed by DeGale.
A fight with Andrade would be a good fight for him to test the waters. I think he'll drown though.

Even if he dominates David it doesn't prove anything, its a pointless fight. He should be mixing with guys way above this level.

    Andrade would kill him.

Paul Smith would be wise to try for the Magee fight or take a punt in Europe. We have a few very interesting fights coming up at his weight so whatever happens it could be great for us fans.

    smith should go to middle

he is soft to the body at his sides and around the face/neck

at world level in this weight class you get all the guys 6'1 or 6'2 who are proper athletes. the type of guys that would be top in about 5 different sports each

i think magee beats him. people seem to forget how tough and close a fight magee had with froch

I agree. I think if he went down to middle he could beat Macklin.

    I stated this yesterday.

In order to avoid DeGale, he win his next fight, wins the Lonsdale belt outright and vacates.

What about the "I fight to the level of my opponent". Sometimes true but Macklin loves to use it.

I had a lot of hope for Paul during, and after the Contender, I remember they all had their punch power measured and Smith hit the hardest.

However he constantly underperforms, even during the show, and if he couldn't get up for an opportunity like that, I dont think he ever will raise his game. HE might believe he can, but I don't see it, the standard around that weight is catching Smith up now, better, hungrier fighters.

To go from british to world ,you really have to be blowing domestic fighters away in 3 - 5 rounds, examples Hatton , Witter , Froch. If you are getting into wars at domestic level in a weight class that isnt that deep then your not at that level. Sorry Paul but being the gatekeeper at British level is what you are.
