Im not going to pretend to be as educated as most on here when it comes to fighters and fights, but can people people really see Degale taking Paul to a place he is yet to visit and get the win over the distance. People are saying Paul has reached his level, i just dont see it like this when questions have been asked Paul as delivered the fights/local derbys he had were wars but this time I feel paul will have a lot less pressure on him and the backing of the whole city, I for one cant wait Ive got my ticket and can see Paul taking this very late on, im counting the days now :bbb
He has struggled against fairly limited fighters thats why people don't rate him... And he is a complete twat
I can't see this going the distance. DeGale is gonna love this lions den malarky. He'll thrive off it. For Smith to have any success he's gonna have to go to DeGale which will see him get hit by every counter shot in the book probably. And Smith is known to cut rather easily so DeGale and McDonnell will be working on shots that will do this. Ref will stop this between rounds 6 & 8 I reckon I genuinely believe via Stieglitz' belt DeGale will be a world champion by the end of 2011.
Of course he can win a decision? Why not? He's got the speed in his favour, he's so much more athletically gifted. He's the more accurate puncher, he's got better defence. If Paul Smith can take punishment not cut up DeGale will win a decision. If he can't he'll get stopped.
Tough fight for Paul i think, as already mentioned he cuts so easily and Degale punches in that slashy manner that will play on this. That said, Smith is tough, but for me not really a SMW i think he would be far better at middle. Degale, possibly on cuts or via wide UD for me.
My man,:hi: and I thought I was standing alone This content is protected This content is protected PRE-FIGHT weigh-ins are always highly anticipated events.
I think he's up against it, but just like Kenny against Groves- its not superman their fighting. Degale punches incorrectly at times- and I don't think he's a massive puncher. I think the biggest hurdle will be cuts and super keen referee stoppages. We know how jumpy they get on certain occasions. Personally if Paul can walk him down and drag him into a fight then he's got a great chance. He's not going to outbox him from range- he's not going to outspeed him, he needs to be a little bit clever but apply steady pressure from the offset. I know Jim Mac drives them into fabulous shape but degales very flighty and will prob use up a lot more steam then your average steady working fighter with his very explosive (but not particuarly hard) flurries. I think Paul will keep the pressure on him- take his legs away and grind him down for a late stoppage or points win. Unless we get the cuts or premature stoppage scenario. And for the record the Bendall loss was a travesty. He is in all but name unbeaten- so should degale come through he deserves major credit.
Watch how good smith will make degale look in this fight. Degale will be well up for this fight. Definetly the next big thing @ smw. Stupidly talented boxer.
