I have said degale is very talented, but he is a baby in boxing terms. I know this would be an excellent win for smigga, no denying it at all. Put it this way, when smigga wins, I will coming on here to tell you all in a very childish manner I told you so, However if degale wins I will hold my hands up and say well done as long as it isn't some kind of bull **** stoppage.
8 fights against the kind of building opposition degale has had just isnt enoygh

Also, I believe degale does some things well. But you have to be honest and say degale has not answered many questions in the pros, but left many unanswered. 15 rounds in the gum sparring does not give you a proper gauge of how you will perform 12 rounds under pressure. Smigga all the way, with degale getting some early success up to round 4

He is both. The deception is that he has acted the fool against opposition he could. People have been deceived into believing how good he is at this stage based on who he has fought, and the liberties he takes. You could say he will do it and get away with it against anyone he fights, but none of us are naive enough to believe he can continue leaving his chin out to dry. He will get sparked. But you also have to look at the natural talent he has to allow him to do these things, and also have the confidence to do these things.
I just thing people have been sold a world champion before we even know if he has the basic attributes to progress; the ability to dig in, take a shot, go the distance etc. I would prefer to judge after, not now, as he is such an unknown quantity

True, Degale has some unanswered questions, but we all know what Smith is about.
He can brawl, wrestle and use his experience to make this go a few rounds but in terms of skill and ability he is a couple of leagues below Degale

Smith is certainly not just about wrestling etc. Any way, we will see come Saturday!

Big Dunk needs to post in this thread some more.

Personally I see DeGale showing his class off once again and beating Smith handily.

Right, so he has loads of natural talent and heaps of potential.

    That's the general consensus anyway.

I don't see what you think he has deceived people into believing?

I'm putting money on Smith. DeGale hasn't come on enough to be at this level, he still has a lot things to work despite being so natural gifted. Plus remember before this was announced a lot were speculating about a Smith world title, if that's true then Smith has that riding on this fight and will bringing absolutely everything he's got. Smith decision or late round stoppage for me.

It wasn't all that long ago he had a terrible pro debut and lot of people were completely writing him off on here. Has he improved so much since then we believe he can mix it a title level against the seasoned smith? I don't think he has and still think he'd be better with another trainer as well.

paul is a solid perfomer at british level, he's determined and a game fighter, degale has a lot more flair but a lot less power, so its the awkward styled, soft puncher, with the very orthodox but tough heavier handed fighter. i think degale will win on points, excluding cuts, it could be a messy fight, paul likes to lean in a lot, and degale can flap around on the outside, there may be very little clean punches,:good.

    Yes. I think so.

It matters not either way though, I'm not particularly bothered who wins, just looking forward to the best British Title fight in a while. If pressed I'd probably support Smith.

I just don't see how Degale has 'deceived' people. It's not like everybody is saying he is capable of winning a world title tomorrow or calling him a P4P great.

People are saying he is a youngster with talent and potential. Something Avid readily admits so I don't know what he's deceived people about.

What's wrong with fighting Dodson a guy who's been in Froch, and who can forget Smiths time on The Contender when Correa tipped him as a future world champion then again since when does anyone listen to Pepe Correa.

Its the best british title fight in a while that for sure

Degale: Can he go 12 rounds? Can he show us the skills to outmanouvre and nullify Smith does he have the potential to be a star? how will he deal with an extremely hostile crowd

Smith: Can he smother Degales work? Can he take him into the trenches. Will he fight to the occasion rather than his last two disappointing displays? Cuts?

Lots of questions to be answered cant wait to find out!
