He's fighting paul Samuels on 17th september at the olympia in Liverpool. Any thoughts on this opponent? Good enough to justify smith a ranking for the British middleweight title? Samuels can defo punch that's for sure. Plus they have a common opponent in cello renda who smith overwhelmed eventually in the 6th of an English middleweight title fight, and who Samuels has beaten twice once via points and once via tko. Samuels has 9 losses 6 of which have come by stoppage also. However he does seem to have something of an equaliser in his gloves. It should be a look good fight for smith. Thoughts anyone?
****ing hell Billy. Answer the question. Can you not post on here without mentioning a Scottish fighter you are either involved with or like?
Is this for Sept 17th? I thought that he was fighting Danny Butler. Paul Samuels is a half decent opponent. To put it in perspective Groves fought him in his 3rd fight and knocked him out in the 1st he has probably slipped into journeyman mode now. Smith should be looking to stop him
Samuels has turned into the man you fight the fight before an eliminator. Decent fight but Smith should get a wide points victory.
I think Samuels is a better fighter than Butler, despite his patchy record in recent times. Butler has been terrible the last couple of times I've seen him. I'd rather see Smith/Samuels than Smith/Butler, put it that way.
They are about the same nothing special a bit below domestic titles but the standard of fighter that would give Tony Jeffries a good fight. Butler had beaten Samuels twice though :deal
I expect a wide points decision. However, if smith is putting his punches together as well as is being reported by Joe g in sparring he could get a pretty quick ko. The likes of Darren barker ko'd Samuels in the first, so I'm sure smith will want a good looking ko. Incidentally wasn't there some sort of controversy when barker ko'd Samuels? Or am I thinking of another fight?

I think this was the fight where Barker was knocked down and jumped up before a count was administered and knocked Samuels out with his next punch. 1:50 [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juTRNuehRhk[/ame]
