    What was Paul's last pay-day?
Can he have two fights to make that up?

If this next fight with Martinez puts on even more wear and tear, which it will if it goes the same length, how is that good?

Short term = what is left of 1.5 million.
Long term = continual pay of whatever he is making plus the possibility he gets an even bigger fight with a big payday. He is 29, not 35.

He might even be able to get a fight with someone like Mosley on PPV or somebody.

Maybe get a fight with a promising Mexican. Maybe a washed up Margarito beats Pac and that fight is set-up. Who knows. Either way, at 29, you still don't have to be disparate given what the other fight did to you and one more fight may end it all, win or lose. Especially if you lose actually because that can drive your price way down. And before you know it, you are washed up and out of a job by the time you are 30. With Williams size, he can make this last longer. Although I would suggest getting another trainer.

Paul can go and collect a title at 154 and a paper title at 160 which can possibly make him more alluring to fight...all while not needing Martinez.

keep winning and you can keep increasing that interest.
Hopkins wasn't a draw but had patience and eventually he got big fights and demanded a big pay. Although he did have a lot of rematches and took them as far as his division since he certainly didn't move up to chase Roy during their prime years.

look mate, your reasons are the same reasons which make it a ***** move.

he is taking an easier route by not fighting sergio. easier route equals ***** move.

    your reasons are my reasons.

kinda like if we where both scientists, our methodology is identical, yet we draw differing conclusions.

Don't know where you get that Williams is a TV draw. He is not. And his style is definitely too awkward for the average viewer even though we boxing fans like it. But most exciting behind Pac, that just brought a smile on my face. Have you watched the Cintron fight?
Lol what? Fighting for the MW championship and the major financial position that comes with it is short term thinking? This conversation is over.

Not when this is a business and you are looking at other things overall.

    He still has options.

He doesn't have to make this fight now.

Were other fighters who turned down rematches as well pussies too?

How about fighters that straight-up turn down offers?

depends what kinda rematch. i.e. had floyd turned down castillo 2 he would have been a *****. had guzman turned down funeka 2 he would have been a *****.

how anyone can defend a boxer taking the easier choice is beyond me.

also depends if one side actively pushes for the fight. like sergio is doing.

Hatton turned down Floyd twice at JrWW, was he a *****?

Floyd has turned down fights at 147+, is he a *****?
Including going into retirement instead of facing Oscar for the second time.

Pac has turned down fights at 147+, is he a *****?
Pac vs. JMM II took 4 years to make.

Sanders wanted a rematch with Wlad, was Wlad a *****?

Lewis retired instead of facing off against Vitali again, was he a *****?

    List goes on and on.

Now what Martinez has over some of them despite his loss to Williams, it the MW title. However, if Williams wants a title, just go and collect one of the ten available in each division.

either way, smart move is to think long-term.

Paul has offered both Pac and Floyd a fight yet they turned him down. Are they pussies?

It's easier for you to say what he should do because you are a fan that wants to see the fight and aren't risking your own health and career. You are not in his position. I try to look at both sides.

As a Fan who also has HBO, I want to see the fight but if it doesn't come off, I'm not going to blame him for being a "*****" when looking at the total picture.

He is a draw, of you are on HBO you are a draw and interest. they dont air people who arent, they wont even air Klitschkos.

His style is too awkward for an average viewer? I dont wanna be too insulting but are you ******ed? Have you ever seen any of his fights other than the cintron fiasco?

Paul throws up to 100 punches a rd. :yep He is the epitome of excitement. Even shade tree fans appreciate his work rate. Let me break this down for you.

    1) Williams holds a win over Martinez
    2) Williams also beat the guy who TKO'D Martinez (Plastergate) while Margo was likely cheating.
    3) Pwill isnt a natural Middleweight, it isnt even his weight class, he has said this himself multiple times. I know because I asked him on the radio during an interview.
    4) He is more deserving of a fight than Margacheato at welter.

    did you read my post?

ill answer anyways even tho it is now obvious you are just a fanboy.

hatton - no because he stepped up and fought floyd at his own weight.

floyd - turned down margo for baldomir, not a ***** move. turning down the pac fight, is a ***** move.

pac - turning down mosley at 147 is a ***** move, heightened by the decision to fight margo at 150.

pac - stepped up a weight to challenge JMM, not a ***** move.

wlad - obviously turning down a sanders rematch is a ***** move.

lewis - stopped vitali, not a ***** move.

again like you say, the long term benefits of not having hard fights is obvious. that equals a ***** move.

You see, that's where your logic is wrong. Gamboa is on HBO too and a lot more exciting and still doesn't get or deserve $2-3M paydays. On TV, it's all about the ratings and there's a big difference between HBO fighters, Williams for one doesn't produce massive numbers, nor sells out arenas, therefore the amount of money businessmen invest in him is limited to what Paul can produce, as they want to get out positive. Simply put: I don't think beltless Williams off that horrible fight can generate $1.5M and he's still getting that amount plus a shot at history. I don't like it either, but he just doesn't worth more than that in the business world, if he would, the numbers were higher. Getting the MW belt could boost his marketability, but that's also a major risk, and guess what, he's hesitating!

 I like Sergio more than Paul. I rooted for Serigo in that fight.

Hatton EVENTUALLY stepped up after AVOIDING the fight for years. So Paul has some time. But go on. And, he was OFFERED MILLIONS. Much more than a mere 1.5 million. Give Williams that much money and he would surely jump at it.

Paul bet Sergio and now wants other fights. And is looking for bigger money fights and/or fights that can pile on the money without taking on the same damaging style fight he fought with Martinez...considering this is only worth 1.5 million.

And all the above mentioned for fights, all received more for than what Williams would get in this match. Again, MONEY vs. risk.

Williams can make history by collecting a paper title at 160. It seems to work for other fighters.

Hopkins couldn't even sell-out in his hometown but because he made savy business decisions at certain points, he has loads of money.

You dont dispute any of my points other than this because you see that I am correct and really that is what this boils down to.

Let me ask you this one question and you can see my point and agree with me.

Would you rather see Pwill fight Martinez at Middleweight or Fight manny pacquaio at Welterweight.

I can easily tell you which one makes him more money and which one does 1 million PPV's. Behind Mayweather, Pwill is the best opponent for manny at welter. But, you dont hear a damn word about him from the pac camp. Instead they would rather fight left overs such as Margo.

Pwill is a draw and deserves a big fight at welter as much as anyone and more than most.

Hopkins defended his belt for 10 years, and when opportunity came to claim the undisputed MW championship, he took it. Imagine Hopkins saying no to the Trinidad fight because he's not satisfied with the money! He'd be broke right now.

As of August 2010, Paul Williams is yet to successfully defend even a paper title and is in no position to force a major fight, yet he's given the dream opportunity to skip all the years Hopkins had to go through, and is bitching about money? That is downright ******ed and utterly stupid in Bernard Hopkins' book.
Lol, ok, think what you want. Paul Williams is not a draw, that's why even the media think the offer is generous. It's your opinion against theirs.
