Paul "The Punisher" Povetkin offered World MW title shot and $1.5M, but still says no

I wish more people would consider this fact.

Right or wrong, Paul Williams sees himself in the mix for one of the potential big paydays with one of the 147 - 154 guys (Pac, Mayweather, Cotto, Mosley, etc.). At his age, it's hard to blame Williams for being reluctant to committing to going up to 160 (where there are zero other money fights) to fight a guy he already has a W over.

Nothing wrong with wanting to see how those other opportunities at 147-154 shake out first.

 

He can still keep calling himself feared if he says who he is feared by and that would be the fighters that haven't stepped into the ring with him.

Sergio doesn't fear him. He already fought Williams. We know that. It's not going to change if you fight Sergio the second time.

One fight like the last fight against Sergio, win or lose, and that could be the end of him. aAnd he will be doing it for 1.5 million (before the subtractions from that pay). He can wait and see what happens to the others. Could he get a fight with Cotto, Margarito (if he beats Pac), Chavez Jr, Mosley, etc...he can be patient still at this age. Just keep active with non-heavy threats. Sergio is a heavy threat.

Winning the MW title, Sergio's Title, won't matter. Paul can collected a paper title at 160 and it will have the same allure which is still basically saying, you either want Paul or don't.
He beat Margarito for a WW title, where did it get him?
He beat Sergio already, where did it get him?
So what will beating Sergio do for him this time? You have to measure the Risk vs. Reward.

Especially if he loses, then he will have a long road back if he can even make it back. No telling how much damage he takes. And it is a great excuse from other fighters not to fight him now.

Then what?

 

It's funny how a guy who is clearly too small for LMW, gets called a chicken for not being so quick to jump at the MW Champ.


He is still feared at 147 where he belongs, because the best guys there will still not fight him.

Well guess what? He may or may not have found out that the weight is too much for him.

At least he went up and actually tried against some really good competition... Unilke the ***gots at 147 who didn't give him the same opportunity.

 

Williams weighed in at 157 for that fight. And Martinez weighed 159. P also weighed 152.5 for his last fight at 154. Yes he is taller than Sergio, but he is definitely not as big.

But don't worry. He may take the fight. I never said he was scared of it. I'm just saying you can't say he's ducking or unning scared when obviously he is a 147 pound guy when you look at his past weighins.

 

I've asked him several times why when Cintron offered to fight Paul at 147 the fight was made for 154 even though Paul was claiming he WANTED to fight at 147. You wanna ask him? Obvious by now he ain't gonna answer me on that one.

 

Tall Williams is not gonna go through that grind of making weight. He's selling wolf tickets.

 

#1 - I don't know why they fought at that weight. Seems kind of odd.

#2 - I don't know why they fought in California. Also seemed kinda odd, but I'm not complaining, cause I love L.A.

 

Grind? When has he ever had trouble 'making weight' ??? Everyone knows better.
