really? why? I like both fighters but Williams did well. He obviously throws alot, but he gives good angles, moves alot and has alot of action. He doesnt look like some low class amatuer. The kid has skills.
What else did you want to see? He's good at what he does, I dont see him being an easy fight for anyone. I've said it from the first time I saw him that he'd give anyone a tough fight. he's good at what he does. And what he does is throw alot of punches from all angles. It works. What else do you need?
You my friend need to go watch it again. 1- He threw the higher volume of punches vs a notoriously high volumed puncher. Not an easy thing to do...especially against a fighter of Margo's level. 2- To keep that level of output, he showed a fantastic stamina level. Keep in mind, he may have gased slightly toward the end, but he still kept enough in the tank to look fresh in the 12th. 3- He showed a GREAT chin. Margo landed some BIG shots and Williams took each one and threw 4 back. 4- The way he changes his velocity on his shots is amazing for a fighter that young. Manny pointed it out after the 2nd and he was right....simply amazing. 5- The different angles he attacked from kept Margarito off balance for most of the fight. Not a small task. 6- He showed he can be the aggressor AND counterpunch effectively. 7- HE BEAT ANTONIO FREAKIN' MARGARITO!!!!
Punishment?? He won a close fight with a volume of arm punches that had no leverage whatsoever. Besides the little bruise on Margarito's left eye, his face was clean. Good chin though and awesome stamina. The holding was getting on my nerves a bit, nevertheless, he never stopped throwing punches. Afterall good win for the young fighter but by no means a punichment.
You're correct about his stamina (I failed to consider that), but I don't think I'd call him amazing just yet. But, given his stamina, workrate, and movement, he would be a difficult math-up for most in the division. I think his power was way overrated, and I still not sold on his chin. I would like to see him in with PBF next, but it'll never happen.
OH, I didnt mean HE is amazing. I said the way he changes the velocity on his punches at that young of an age is amazing. Look at how well Hopkins does it (quite honestly the master at it). Its something that older fighters tend to master and younger ones ignore. And this kid does it VERY VERY well. He still has alot of work to do, but I still thought he looked great tonight for the most part.
he deserves his credit for this fight...he beat Margo and got himself a title and he went in there and took it...he threw and incredible amount of punches and even in the 12th he didn't let up...He still gets hit a lot though and if caught right by hard enough puncher it could be lights out
