I just watched the OP video again. This guy was the role model boxing needs today.

...and here's the latest interview, 4½ years after I posted the one in the OP (five years after it aired).

He gives his thoughts on Mayweather vs. McGregor, is asked to make a Golovkin vs. Álvarez pick but refuses (or rather, declines until "after the first two rounds, so he can look at both men's eyes" :risas3: ...aw, PTP), gives zero ****s about Lomachenko vs. Rigondeaux, and declares Errol Spence Jr. the current #1 in his old stomping grounds @ 147lbs.

Crazy that when the video aired there was still the remote possibility (in his mind) of a return to action. As of then his 34th birthday was still almost three years away. Now we are two years and one month past it, so we can probably assume that even if he were to miraculously wake up tomorrow and start doing standing backflips, a 44th professional boxing contest won't be around the corner.

It hasnt set in that this is permanent yet. He fully believes its temporary. If he doesnt recover itll set in someday and itll hit him like a ton of bricks. I hope he does recover but the odds arent very good.

Truly hope that his optimism is based on realistic expectations and that he recovers fully. Good to see how positively he is handling the crisis.

One example he can draw inspiration from is the Vinny Pazienza story:

His blitz kayo of Kaos still ranks among my all time favorite "KTFO in under two minutes" examples.

...as does Quintana II, although it technically misses the cutoff by 15 seconds.

And it was freaking scheduled. As was Golovkin vs. Pirog, and so many tantalizing others in the annals of boxing. The gods really hate us.
