For the same reasons I hope he loses. Because he's a celebrity with a boxing family's name, grifting a living off it. If there wasn't some manufactured beef with a rather more famous self-promoter to make this fight pay, it wouldn't be happening and Tommy would be on uncle Frank's undercards as a novelty attraction until he finally found his level.
Tommy is a poor boxer. As nurological already pointed out, he's going the celebrity route. Plenty of money to be made for all parties involved. It makes sense but at the same time Warren should sit the lad down and ask him what he wants to do. He can't stick him on his cards anymore without losing some sort of credibility.
Cannot blame Tommy Fury for taking the fight. Will make millions fighting a non boxer. He is no great shake himself, so taking the fight is a no brainer. I personally think Tommy will have enough to beat him, but we will see. If he cannot beat him well he will know to hang the gloves up with a bag full of money. People will buy this as a PPV in big numbers, though I wont be one of them.
The fact Jake Paul and his team were so eager to make this fight tells you all you need to know about Tommy Fury's ability.
I make Paul the favourite. I’m weirdly looking forward to it tbh - Tommy is going to be under intense pressure to protect the family name.
It'll be a boring jab and grab affair over 8 rds. Draw wouldn't surprise me, but i think Paul takes this on point$, so the inevitable r£match will happen or even a trilogy
It's a really good fight to make actually, as tragic as that sounds. Fury is totally unproven and Paul could quite easily batter him.
Almost ashamed to say I'm looking forward to this but I genuinely am looking forward to it. Jake Paul has made himself a real villain, not just in boxing but in MMA as well. He's trolling everyone and their mother while marketing himself as well any boxer I can recall in recent years. Outside of his huge YouTube following, everyone in boxing and MMA including fans want to see him get sparked out cold. That's serious drawing power, despite his lack of pedigree. I also want to see Paul sparked out but I admire his marketing skills and in fairness, the little bit of boxing I've seen of him didn't look too bad, albeit against poor/MMA opposition. The same can't be said of Tommy Fury who looks feather fisted and unimpressive in his career up to now. Yet he's the "real" professional boxer here, carrying the name of one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time and John Fury, one of the biggest loudmouths in the sport. Serious pressure lays on the shoulders of young Tommy Fury here because a loss is beyond embarrassing. For those reasons it's an intriguing matchup and one circus I'll happily be streaming.
I imagine that's how nearly everyone feels. It's not your normal nonsense Youtube idiot versus pro boxer. This one is intriguing because you can't say for certain that the pro boxer will definitely win.
This. Doubt Tommy Fury is even known in America, he's just 'Tyson's brother'. It's like KSI fighting Wilder's brother over here.
I don’t rate Tommy Fury. I feel he’s very stiff in the shoulders and good fighters Will see his telegraphing. He’ll probably fatigue a lot because of it. I would really love to see him knock this idiot out cold though.
You know boxing has become a joke when fighters like Frampton are saying this is a huge fight! Good grief
