"I've spoken to Paul Williams, Al Haymon, and George Peterson and I would really like to get him one of these champions at 147." ( Dan Goosen.) Edited because half my post disappeared. Team Williams and Goosen now say PW is going back to 147. The whole article is on the scene. After all the smack Goosen, Williams, and Peterson talked, "the most feared fighter" in the world won't fight anywhere but 147.
Nothing much there, Maybe Williams feels that 160 is too much for him, there is nothing wrong with that. nothing wrong with a guy feeling that he is too small to fight bigger guys. Didnt Pavlik move back down in weight after Hopkins beat his ass??? Pavlik had his chance to fight Williams, if Williams wants to move back down so be it, Pavlik will have to move on.
He'll most likely encounter the same difficulty of landing big fights as he previously experienced. Maybe the Mosley-Berto winner would be willing to step up but if I were him I wouldn't hold my breath for either PBF or Pac.
Paul isn't scared of any fight, which is the reason they signed for Oct. 3rd and Dec. 5th...They've spent time chasing the Pavlik fight, he's mislead them. Of course this isn't anything intentional on Pavlik's part but I still feel it was avoidable. By this I mean if Pavlik honestly wasn't sure how his hand was going to hold up he didn't have to tie Paul down to contract....not once but twice. Either way you slice it Paul's camp CAN be justified for not wanting to do business with Pavlik again.....its a shame and for the best interest of the sport I wish they would but you can't force them to and they have a legitimate gripe. Well anyways Floyd wont fight you, Pac won't fight you, brashly put neither needs you....how bout we get this Martinez rematched inked for Spring though!
Goosen, Williams, and Peterson talked a ton of smack. Williams and Peterson came straight out and accused Pavlik of faking the hand problem. Peterson and Williams said Pavlik had no heart and that he would get knocked out. Now they are running the other direction. Williams would get the biggest pay day of his career against a fighter him and his trainer claimed was afraid of PW. "The most feared fighter in the world," who "everyone from 147-168 avoids," the man who would "retire Hopkins," is back in protective custody just like he was in 2008.
well lets be fair here, a good portion of this year was spent by Paul Williams trying to get this fight. The fight was initially proposed in July. We have to look at it from both angles here Boo, I mean Paul's a man with a family to feed and take care of just like Kelly, he was en route to the biggest payday of his life, most likely of his families' lives as well, and again from his point of view he gets jerked out of it twice! Of course at that point you begin to express some anger towards KP. Like I said before you can't really say that his team wouldn't be justified in not wanting to ever deal with Kelly Pavlik again.
Pavlik is ready to go as early as February. March or April would be more likely. April would be best since PW's face needs a few months to heal up, but we won't see the fight because now that KP is 100% your boy is running scared. He now knows he let his alligator mouth right a check his humming bird ass can't cash. Don't try to pretend PW is not ducking Pavlik. After all the **** him and Peterson talked they look like complete imbeciles. There is no way to spin this. It's a duck plain and simple.
Before Williams got his face bashed in by Martinez, all they wanted was some up front money. Now they know fighting Pavlik at 160 was always a bad idea.
Watching Paul get battered by a 154 pounder with a 50% KO ratio against questionable opposition is what woke their dumb asses up. After all the **** Williams and Peterson talked, you'd think they would jump at the chance to get Paul a career high pay day. They aren't going to go in that direction because they now realize how badly Pavlik would hurt Williams. If you can't see that this is blatant ducking, you're either a pure hater, or blind nut hugger.
I don't care much about Williams not wanting to deal with Pavlik anymore (Can't blame him) but I think it's sad he seems to be avoiding the Martinez rematch.
