I edited my post and left part out. His homie, NBA says he can and they say he has to eat extra to get sanctioned at MW. I honestly think he can though I think SMW is more likely his natural weight. Quite honestly, I'd love to see him against Billy Lyle at that weight. I think Lyle could quite possibly do a Quintana on him. Billy earned a shot at a decent payday by beating John Duddy but nothing has come of it yet.

    154lbs is the ideal..
@ 160lbs I don't think he could stand up to true MW power.
@ 147lbs I'm still not convinced he could make it without hurting himself.....
That said, Go for it Willy.

But IMO his career is downhill post the Martinez fight.

He can make 147. He eats extra to get sanctioned at 160. Pass that along to the guy in your avvie. :D

Why would you say his career is gonna be downhill?

"I would tell [Williams] that I want to make our fight happen," Pavlik told FanHouse a few days prior to stopping Espino. "I'm not looking past Miguel Espino...But after this fight, let's make it happen. That's exactly what I would tell [Williams.]."

Pavlik, similarly, stood in the ring following the Espino fight and called out Williams.

"Listen, we wanted him, and we ended up fighting Bernard Hopkins because he pulled out of the fight. That's why we jumped up two weight classes to fight Bernard Hopkins," said Pavlik, referring to a unanimous decision loss in to the legendary Hopkins in October of 2008.

"This last fight, we signed the contract a month before he did. Unfortunately, with the staph infection, it is medically proven that we couldn't fight it," said Pavlik. "So, Paul Williams, you're not the most feared fighter. You've got a guy standing right here in Youngstown, Ohio, that wants you."

He will be considered shot before his time, simply based on the amount of punishment he takes.

The point i was making is that when he gets in the ring with guys like Martinez, Williams, Abraham(post 168), Sturm, Mudine even Winky Wright he's gonna have a major fight infront of him!!

How can any Pavlik fan judge how good KP is with wins against low level competition and a loss against a fighter who was 12 years past his prime in the past 2 years!

If you wanna know what young champions are to do to legends check:

Del la Hoya KO Chavez x2
    Tyson KO Holmes
    Tyson KO Spinks
    Cotto UD Mosley
    Williams UD Wright
    Taylor MD Hopkins x2

They're a bunch more I can name if I did research but thats my point!!

What KP has done in the last 2 years is disappointing to boxing!

Wow! I hope you didn't bet money on Pac being "shot before his time" after his fights with JMM!:huh

Who's he going to face at Welter? Unless its Mayweather, Pacquiao, Mosley, Berto, etc, then its a no go imo.

Williams will hurt himself making 147lbs, there is no question of this. He looks lean as anything when weighing 157lbs, never mind losing an extra ten lbs.

I can understand why Williams is moving down and I don't blame him. I think it is clear that the MW's are a bit too big for him and he can't take their punches as well as at lower weights. He should move down to 154 where I think he would be most comfortable.

I agree this is not a smart move on his part. Who's gonna fight him at 147?

yes it is disappointing. i agree and so would kelly.

kelly's career began more than two years ago. your opinion of him is based on what a 180 + pound ONE OF A KIND all time great did to him when kelly moved up two weight classes.

take his body of work at mw and you will see that, while he may not walk on water, he is a very good fighter and a handful for anyone at that weight. you arent giving him nearly enough credit.

zuniga, mckart, zertuche, miranda, taylor...none of them had been stopped until they fought pavlik. he's undefeated at mw and has stopped every mw he's fought. and while those names listed above arent elite/great as i already stated...it is a good accomplishment. why can't you admit that. i know you don't genuinely hate kelly that much. this doesnt mean kelly is an atg but come on.
