Do you people know anything about boxing? Williams and Martinez fought because they were the two most avoid fighters of their time. Williams was willing to fight anyone from Welter to Middleweight. 41 and 2 . Of course he is worthy!
Had some good wins but didnt do enough. If he could have stayed at 147 or 154 he might have done better. Sad story i feel bad for how his career ended but no. Good fighter though who always brought it.
I am simply asking the questions...it seems you and I are in the minority regarding his resume good enough to be in the HOF.
Paul is a geat human being and a credit to boxing but i have to say no in this instance he simply didnt do enough had he not got injured and continued with his career who knows but as it stands i have to say no.
Everyone always says "oh well if Gatti could get in...". Which gets old and redundant. The HOF might let special fan-favorites in even if they were less-than-elite, but most fighters are going to be judged on the quality of their resume. Paul's unfortunately falls short, though he was still a very good fighter. I remember in his tune-up preparing for Canelo, he actually showed more discipline than he had in what I saw to be a loss against Lara.
Paul should definately get in. If PROVEN & EVENTUALLY self confessed Ped's abusers like Steroid Shane Mosely get in Anyone gets in. I was fooled by Mosely at first & rated him & thought he was a clean fighter till BALCO caught him dead to rights. I think any proven Peds infraction should automatically be a H O F NoNo !! Another thing I admired about Paul & Sergio for that matter both said that neither of them thought Antonio Margarito had loaded gloved against them but that he did hit very hard & was strong. They thought he was innocent
