I will wait to decide, but he has some serious technical deficencies- namely the way he sacrifices correct punching technique for high punch output. Accumulation got him here, but if he is to go to the elite ranks, he must be able to land the punch that counts, not an accumulation of arm punches.

If I was his trainer I would take him out of competition for a while, and deconstruct his punching techniqe while putting emphasis on economy of motion and the placement of his hips and shoulders into his punches. Once this flaw is fixed, then I would let him return to his volume punching style, being that he has the conditioning to do this (although if he is punching correctly his output would fall a bit).

He has the potential, and a size advantage, to still be a great fighter. But without this correction, anyone with head and foot movement is going to give him trouble.

He lost ONE fight to slick southpaw...with good head movement..he was pushed around and bullied by little carlos.

Williams looked...weak...and weight drained..hes a champion and he has the heart of one..he'll be back beter then ever.

He's a lot better than he looked Saturday night, but then again, he isn't as good as he is made out to be on here.

Average fighter fighting way under his natural weight.

Bad night for Paul, I feel. I wouldn't say he's over rated, a bum, or finished. Let the guy have another few fights and then decide. Let's not forget, Paul has no amateur experience at all. I think he's done pretty darn well, considering this.

I started to think bad day at the office but when i rewatched the fight he looked like that because he took too many shots that he thought he could just walk through. He learned a big lesson Sat. night..... you cannot just eat punches because they dont put you down. Those where clean punches that effected his body later in the fight when he thought Qintana would wear down but instead he wore down. And Im not so sure if he could make that weight safely anymore and has no power to move up..... BIG PROBLEMS PUNISHER !!!!!!!!!

He is a good fighter. Although his defensive lapses showed up in this fight which showed up in all his previous fights. Anyone with a decent boxing IQ would have been able to expose those deficiencies. Which is the reason why I picked Quintana to win.

There were entirely too many clean punches landing on that chin of Williams to make anyone think that there wasnt serious issues with him and to doubt his "status"

This was Williams's first outing against a slick fighter who moves laterally. He abaondoned his insane workrate, and didnt defend his face.

As a result, he wound up getting two or three cuts over both eyes and the left side of his face, and without his constant barrage of jabs, Quintana was able to sneak around down low and set up for some big left hands across the cheek.

Williams had a poor night at the office, I think he is still a top 5 welterweight, but any thoughts of him being Mayweather's kryptonite should be utterly vanquished. His fight with quintana showed that Paul Williams still has some maturing to do, and needs some more fights under his belt before he gets to take on the top level of competition.
