Exactly. Someone with a solid chin would have gotten up from a shot like that. Guys with shaky chins - like Williams - get knocked out cold. The key in analyzing a chin is not whether they get cracked, it's what happens after they do.
Iron Chinned Boxers do not get brutally and embarrassingly KOed. Ever. That is why they are called Iron Chinned. Some of you need to realize there is a huge difference in the true elite Chins like Chuvalo, LaMotta, Hagler, Vitali Klitschko etc. and people like Margarito. This is very simple to understand yet many on here simply can't understand it. With the way many of you talk on here you act like there is no such thing as a Glass Jaw and anyone can be KOed at anytime by a guy with a 50% KO rate which is simply not true. It is ridiculous.
It's borderline. Time will tell if it truely was the perfect punch, or in fact Williams has shakey whiskers.
This is pretty much my position. For now, I've upgraded it from questionable to shaky. We'll see if it's glass.
oh he gets knocked out once he got a glass jaw ****in seriously??? muhammad ali got knocked out multiple times his jaw wasnt glass. would you call foremans chin glass too? seriously motha****a??
Yeah, so would I. Once again the "that punch woulda KOd anybody" crowd proves how much they know about boxing!!!
ok ill admit i overexxagerated that statement. i was counting knockdowns in my head when i counted that one.
His ability to take a punch is already proven. He went 12 rounds with Margarito. He went 12 rounds with Winky. He went 12 rounds with Martinez once before. He got hit flush A LOT in all of those fights. Plus, he's supposedly fighting two weight classes above his ideal weight. He leaned into a punch and got nailed. I can understand saying maybe his chin isn't all it was cracked up to be, but you'll lose a lot of credibility if you say it's glass. In the past year, Carlos Baldomir and Librado Andrade both got knocked out, and David Tua was knocked down and badly hurt by a mediocre puncher. Do you need any more evidence that not EVERYTHING that determines whether a guy gets knocked down is due to punch resistance?
He doesn't have a glass jaw. It's the **** people don't see that hurts. We should all know this as boxing fans.
