Paul Williams + Golden Boy Promotions = ?

Idk dude theres that whole Golden Boy curse that a lot of fighters have been experiencing all the way back to MAB/Pac I.

 

I did. It was the first time I saw Williams fight actually...

 

Thanks for the Vid bro. Good stuff. That Sharba Mitchell fight looked ridiculous though, a little bit..lol. Nice right hook in those clips, I esp. liked the Phillips body shots with that hook around the elbow.

Shocked me actually when I was down at MEPS. A lot of the guys there followed MMA but I would talk boxing to them, and all of them with the exception of 2 guys who were mexican knew who was Paul Williams was.

(The 2 mexicans didn't even know who Chavez was. atsch)

I told them, how do you call yourself mexican and not know who he is?

 

Nothing. One was quiet and the other kept trying to tell me boxing was boring. So I started to raise my voice telling him he's a moron and to go watch Chavez-Taylor, Gatti-Ward, Hagler-Mugabi.


He just kept touting MMA is better and more exciting. I'm like are you joking?


Countless times I watched a hug fest.

He's like, in MMA you get more knock outs and better striking!

I nearly punched him before one of the marines came out of his office to yell at me to shut up. (No Im not going for the marines, all the offices are located in one area).

I just told him to watch those fights and get back to me. And I said you really need to go find out who Chavez is.

 

The real problem I have is that Paul Williams dosen't promote himself properly!! PW has all the attributes to be great but he gives off a nice/respectable guy image and in the brutal sport of boxing you have to have some sort of arragance!!

Think about Haye for example he came up from CW to HW and was in position to fight the 2 top guys because of how he marketed himself!!

 

There is good anecdotal evidence that says Goosen is doing a fine job with PW. Sometime back when this entire forum kept jabbering about Abraham, some people I know who are good boxing fans, but not hardcore like us, said, "**** Abraham! He's a nobody. Pavlik should fight Paul Wiliams!"

That tells me that PW gets plenty of attention. That means Goosen is doing just fine. PW doesn't need GBP. He's an exciting fighter. What he needs more than anything else is for the money players at 147 to man the **** up and give him a shot.

 

Don't worry booradley cause Mosley will fight him, he'll fight anybody. Oh wait oh am i kidding? Mosley won't go anywhere near Williams. Hell after Williams easily beat Wright, i bet Mosley said to Williams "This is why i'm scared to fight you."

I think I've seen maybe 1 fight of Ruiz's since after the Jones fight.

 

I really didn't pay attention to him much, but the Miranda/Green box off for the alternate spot was inspired. :deal

Seriously, a clinch is a real energy burning chess match in MMA. Look at the criticism Dawson took for his last fight because it was 'slow'. I'm sticking with "A good fight is a good fight". :yep
