    Oh I know.

When you are arguing with a tool saying MMA has better striking.

You may have seen me post this before, but one more time. My son has been training/studying MMA (well just various martial arts) for years. He says most in MMA just don't know how to punch and it isn't the oft given excuse that they have to worry about kicks, take downs, etc. They just have poor technique.

For those that would say it is just my son's opinion. The young man is a genius. According to testing one of the 'smartest' in his age group in the country. When he decides to study something he ends up KNOWING it. It is hard to explain to people that haven't had experience with some one like him. (Hell, if I wasn't his father, he probably wouldn't have anything to do with ME!)

He tried out a local gym that touts MMA training and was appalled because they were working on striking and he could see all of the flaws these guys had. (He said he could have easily taken over the session and done better) The instructor decided to work with him because it was his first time and they did some mitt work. After a couple of minutes with my son he had to change to bigger mitts because my son punched harder than expected because of proper technique. He was only 155 pounds at the time.

    :good That's awesome.

I love boxing and I enjoy MMA.

While I know in MMA it's harder to perfect striking like boxing because you have to prepare for other things but it was just insulting to have this guy tell me MMA has better striking.

I actually worked with my friend who is an MMA fighter. He's a stand up fighter. He's got a purple belt but way way better striking. I was trying to tell him when he's in certain spots, get in those body shots, and get proper distance and technique on your jab etc.

What do you know, when he's standing he's awesome, overwhelming and great. But he thinks because he's doing so good he can go to the ground.

LIke his last fight this a week ago. He was the main event, he's beating the hell out of this guy, Doug The Rhino Marshall. Doing great, right hands, stunning him, jabs. He clinches with him, and Im front row. I start yelling, throw body shots! He doesn't expect it. Right as I say that he goes for a standing kimura, almost gets it, and ends up getting mounted. He went for like 3 minutes of being mounted, with 20 seconds left a right hand slipped through, he was out cold. First time ever his career out cold.

If he would of just STAYED UP! Even the slightest of technique adjustments in MMA mean a lot.
