What about the size advantage Williams has over every other WW? Should his wins mean less because of it?

I agree with you though, Margo - Cotto was a mismatch from day one, but that's not what the experts and 90% of this board thought. That's what made the conclusion of the fight so sweet.

By the way, was Sam Peter cought cheating or something? I must have missed that...

where did you get these quotes? I've seen some PW interviews and he doesn't sound like that at all. surprising to say the least.

Berto isn't ready for PW. Forbes was not a good enough challenge to prepare him for the elite welters. Just because Clottey made Margarito look ordinary, doesn't mean he'll do the same to Williams. PW is a much improved fighter since the Quintano fight. I see him dominating for 12 rounds if not knocking Clottey out.

Margarito was sssooooooooooooooo inactve in that Clottey fight..he had ONE round in 15 months.. and a pre fight injury.. That wasnt a complete MARGO. Clottey will get in PW's ARSE....PW hasnt KO'd an elite WW that wasnt just KTFO....:deal

FWIW, Mitchell was also top 10 at the time they faced off, though it was obvious that he had a fork stuck in him by the end of the fight.

Seriously though, how many top 10 welters have any of the other guys beaten?

Margo - Cotto, Clottey, Cintron x2 (I guess you could throw Lewis, Diaz and Perez in there, but he fought those guys ages ago)
Cotto - Mosley, Quintana, Judah, Urkal (who was top 10 at the time; Ring sadly had Gomez top 10 at the time as well)
Mosley - Collazo (I guess you could throw Diaz and Hoya in there, but those were ages ago, plus a loss to Cotto)
Williams - Margarito, Quintana, Mitchell (loss to Quintana)
Clottey - Judah (losses to Baldomir and Margarito)
    Berto - None

So Margo has the best resume at welter, but Williams also beat him head to head. Bit of a quandary, innit?

This is a fight I'm not sure what to think about. Williams should be the favorite. I think Clottey will have a hard time getting inside... but Williams gets a little sloppy and Clottey's precision punches will certainly find home. To win Clottey MUST step his work rate up. It is imperative. I think he could KO WIlliams on accumulation because Williams form gets sloppy as the fight goes on and Clottey will land all night. He has to work though no way around it.

Is Paul Williams becoming the Welterweight version of David Haye:huh

I think Williams beats Clottey, but i think Berto if he fights the right fight would be a tough fight for him.

Cotto and Margo would beat him if they fought, or fought again in Margo's case:good
