I'm the biggest (and most rational ) Margarito fans here. He won a clear, yet hard fought fight over Margarito.
Williams is the truth!! He will be in the top 10 p4p by next year. He has his flaws, like lack of real one-punch ko power, wide punches, and sometimes overconfidence. However, he has a HUGE upside.
Because thats a very stupid thing to do against Wright. Wright has never been knocked out and he's one of the best technical boxers in the game. Kelly Pavlik tried that against Hopkins and we all know what happened there. His plan was to outwork Wright and use his speed. Its called strategy, not all fights are won on brute force. Williams has power he showed it in his last fights against Quintana and Phillips. You do know Wright has great defense and a great chin. If you were expecting Paul to knock him out than your dreaming. Pavlik wouldn't be able to K.O. Winky either. If Vargas,Mosley,Trinidad, Jermain Taylor, and Bernard couldn't do it. Than no one can. Unless he moves up to Heavyweight and meets the Klitchkos and even then I doubt it.
whats strange is that for a light middle weigh paul williams is freakishly tall in my opinion. I mean 6'1 is more of a lightheavy stature aint it? Not making any excuses as i like williams and all but he was fighting a much smaller guy who hadnt fought for over a year so i think he should fight some more top level guys before making him out to be p4p no 1
Don't forget his biggest flaw which is that his hands (especially his jab) are going as low as his anckles after he punches. Wright could'ved and should'ved countered Williams' jab about a gazillion times with his right power punch. But he failed and looked horrible.
Sheesh! Have some water, baby - no need to pop that jab! :nut Paul Williams promised to sit down on his punches waaaay before the Wright bout. I'm very much aware that Williams has had more than one fight, thank you, and he has made progress in sitting down on his punches. I have the same build, so I know that an intensive strength training program will add a bit of power, but it's close to unnoticeable. The real dramatic difference comes from fully exploiting the leverage a 6'+ skinny guy can bring to bear and it's very noticeable - again, he's made progress on that as well, but there's room for more savvy there; not against a Winky Wright, except when he turtles, but the potential exists.
I like to introduce you to Tommy Hearns This content is protected and Vernon Forrest This content is protected both 6'1 welterweights and light middleweights. This is the only part of your paragraph that made sense Did you see Wrights face after the fight? Nobody has beaten Winky that bad ever. Maybe Hopkins, and he used a headbutt to do that. There were plenty of times in the fight where Paul had Winky hurt. I've seen most of Winky's fights and that was the only time any one has staggered him with a punch. I think Williams has more power than you realize. You may know about "strength training programs" but nothing about boxing. History shows that skinny fighters do better in boxing than muscle bound freaks. Just ask Jeff Lacy whose steroid like pysique couldn't do crap against skinny fighters like Calzaghe and Taylor.
I'm not either!!! However, I do think " Walk With Me " has bought it hook line and sinker... I fear he has probably swallowed too!!! Ouch!!!!
Well, yeah, lean muscle is superior, but you still need some water. Where exactly are you seeing me comment on the things you're disagreeing with? :huh You're disagreeing with your own posts a whole lot, but there's nothing I've posted that bears any resemblance to what you're trying to start an argument about.
Just the comment you made that you don't see power in Williams in the Wright fight. I disagree Williams had Wright hurt many times in the fight. Honestly your last paragraph really made no sense.:deal
