Poor guy - seems a really genuine fella. As far as spinal injuries, from personal experience I reckon the medical profession is still in the dark ages where these are concerned. Being so physically strong and disciplined gives him as good a chance of recovery as possible.

5 series is a nice motor and with BM's you do feel safe inside them, I had a 3 series, lovely motor, Im mostly in my van these days but I have got an old Ford Capri that I will get round to doing up, (eventually) been sitting there 3 years, that's not a safe motor by the way.

I guess Paul Williams can take a lot of comfort and strength from someone like Frank Williams (Formula 1 owner), who was a very fit young man when he damaged his spinal chord in a car crash. Williams has gone on to lead a very successful life as an F1 team boss.

Paul Williams seems like a very determined and level headed guy, he speaks very well and in the future who knows he could possibly be a great boxing analyst or commentator. His big heart and amazing spirit so far by all reports is amazing and I wish him the best...

I don't think he's really cut out for commentating, but he is incredibly well-off now. Along with Mr Peterson, Al Haymon and his wife, he's been very canny with his money. It's well-invested and I doubt he'll ever need work again.

Its not about needing to work, its about wanting to do something, have a goal or something to aspire to be again..

I think he'll be fine. His plan, post-boxing, was to spend his days fishing. He seems a fairly uncomplicated guy, just likes having good people around him.

Paul Williams likely paralyzed after motorcycle accident

Former two-division boxing champion Paul Williams is reportedly paralyzed from the waist-down after being thrown from his motorcycle on Sunday.

Just last week the 30-year-old boxer was overjoyed after signing to fight Saul Alvarez for the WBC Light Middleweight title on September 15. Boxing experts saw the bout as a opportunity for Williams to re-establish himself as a dominant force in the sport. Now he’s battling for his life.

Manager George Peterson told News 12 that he’s in the hospital with a surgery scheduled for Wednesday. That surgery will help to stabilize the healthy upper half of his spine by putting a protective wall around it.

Peterson said Williams went off the road trying to avoid another vehicle and was thrown from his motorcycle. He’s conscious and alert in an Atlanta hospital, and his manager said his positive attitude is the same as it’s been throughout his 12-year pro boxing career.

We wish him the best and hope for a full recovery.

I have too many mates who ride these things and ride them at stupid speeds, a girl I know came off one while riding with my mate just last week and took a few knocks, luckily they were just buzzing along in traffic at fairly low speeds but by my mates account she got off very lucky.

I don't want to be carrying one of them in a box some day because of a stupid bike accident.

I hope Paul can make a good recovery, ever boxing again seems to be out of the question at this point but the guys a warrior, if anyone can see out the physio to make the recovery then it is likely him.

All the best Paul and Good Luck.

    Horrible news.

It's good that he seems in good spirits but when reality sets in and the 'novelty' wears off you do fear for him. Such an athlete cut down in his prime.
