I don't see anything in this guy to suggest otherwise. How is this over-sized Welterweight an elite fighter? He has a terrible herky-jerky style and his defence begins with his Chevy Chase. He is overrated and his Chin will be cracked sooner rather than later. He is a future Glass Jawed boxer. Discuss.
I think you're posting in the wrong thread. This thread is about Paul Williams, incase you can't read.
How is Paul Williams not an elite fighter? You cant fault him for being bigger then everyone else. As of today he has victories over Margarito(with wraps), Quintana, Verno Phillips, Winky Wright(Faded, maybe shot) and Martinez(fantastic fighter). I mean it wouldnt be wrong to consider him a top 3 fighter in 3 weight divisions.
Anyone who suggests that as a total package he is not a daunting task for well over 90% of welterweights and light middleweights is BSing. He's definitely elite. But, I agree that he's a knockout waiting to happen. Put this guy in with a legit banger at 154, or God forbid 160 like Pavlik...ugly knockout waiting to happen. He's a ballsy SOB, it'll probably cause him to burn out fast at the elite level. Kirkland would've butchered him in a FOTY candidate, imo.
...There's literally zero evidence I'm aware of that Margarito loaded his gloves against Williams. Nor did his performance look to me as though he had such an edge that night.
I know, and I'd say he is an elite fighter. One of the best in today's crop, from 147 - 160. He can rule 147 and 154 if he wants. His style allows him to be hit, but I guess he has a good chin, and his workrate is tremendous. A present p4p, I hope he can be given a chance against the big names of 147.
Hes one of the top 3 fighters in the middleweight division, top 2 in the light middleweight division and, if he can make it back down to 147, he will be considered one of the top 4 there.
Although i thought Martinez deserved their fight, i still think Paul is an elite fighter and have him 7th on my PFP list. He would whup any other JM not name Martinez. He is gonna whup Cintrons ass.
You might as well say every fighter shows up exactly the same way in every fight because if you show up a certain way once, you will do it each time. It's ridiculous logic. Shane Mosley was always shooting up the magic mystery vitamin, in every fight. Why? He said he did it once. Every time LaMotta ever lost, he threw the fight. Why? He was caught doing it once. ...This all seem logical to you? Did it seem like Margarito was doing that kind of suspicious damage to Paul? Did it really? ...Pleeeease.
