He just has trouble with southpaws and I can't understand why does he walks his way into fighters instead of jabbing his way in and setting up his punches basic boxing. He definitely needs a new trainer.
Hearns was all technique. They trained differently. It's not just a matter of body type. Paul Williams by his arm length and height should have a hell of a lot more pop in his punches and he has shown he can have power. He just didn't have any in this fight.
He beat Wright, Margarito, even Martinez. It does not matter what anyone says, he's certainly not a hype job based on the skill level of the fighters he has beaten. And I honestly think he could have beaten Cintron as well. Along with Berto and Cotto.
And he lost to Martinez, Lara and Quintana. It's not like just anybody can beat him. He does seem like he has slacked on his technique though. He was way better in the first Martinez fight and he has declined since then.
Yall dont know what a shot fighter is . Paul looked more or less the same , maybe had a bit of an off night tho. But the fact is he's lost to 3 southpaws, and I don't think that's a coincidence. It's a style issue . And no, he wasnt that great to begin with either. He's a volume puncher, with a freakish height and reach , that's all he's ever really been.
i was hoping that the first fight with sergio martinez wouldn't have diminished him but he hasn't looked anywhere close to his usual form after that, glaring defensive mistakes aside..that fight i thought williams won because he outworked sergio who only held up because of will and adrenaline alone...certainly by no 119-110 decision smh...paul has so much potential but the trainer he has is absolute ****...and getting hit over and over with the same ****ing punches from lara for 12 rounds..same punches that took sergio only 5 tries in 2 rounds to knock him out...he still threw his 1000 punches but they werent sharp and they had nothing on them..what the hell was he doing coming in at 170 anyways...he needs a new trainer so bad its not funny..the man is one of my fav fighters currently but he needs an career intervention...i don't want to see him go out like this..winning dubious decisions and losing by brutal ko's
That's nonsense. Williams is not a shot fighter. The problem is that Williams is the SAME fighter. He didn't improve or learn from his defeat. His opponent certainly did.
He's not shot. Past his best? Sure. But being on the decline and being shot are two entirely different things. Too many posters don't seem to undserstand the difference. An elite fighter can still be world class while being past their prime.
Yeah, he is shot, and everyone should have expected it after Martinez broke his egg. As you all should know, ONCE THEY CRACK THEY DON'T COME BACK and that chin was certainly cracked.:rofl:rofl He's lucky he was fighting a feather fisted fraud like Lara because otherwise he'd have found himself staring into a flashlight again as all the commission's men tried to put his shattered glass mandible together again.:hi:
Just a ****in predictable denieratsch If a guy that just got his Fragile Glass Jaw shattered fights a feather fisted hypejob and gets rocked multiple times by said feather fist, his chin is cracked and he's shot. Expect highlight reel KOs anytime this china chinned chump comes up against a puncher, which is something I doubt he or his managers plan on matching up with in the near future. lol::rofl
