Why didn't Saurland invite Kelly to his show case for Kessler and Abraham? Maybe because it was too big a risk? :yep
Pavlik wasn't ask to be invited but Pavlik said out of his own mouth" Even if showtime invite me i would turn it down cause these guys in the tournament are fighting for peanuts. I'm an hbo fighter."
i know he said that and had some other **** to say about the smw tourney that i cannot defend. i just can't help but think he would jump at that opportunity b/c it really is an opportunity of a lifetime that every fighter should dream of. but...of course i can't tell you what he's thinking
Well, show me where he was asked and THEN we can get to this point. To be fair, Kelly IS a middle weight but I'm tired of people trying to make out that Kelly somehow ducked this tourney when he wasn't invited. This is all in Saurland's court.
Everybody wants to talk about the article where Pavlik was mis-quoted and his statements were published out of context. No one ever talks about this article from Vindy.Com on July 9th.!
He still did say if he was invited, he would turn it down cause those fighters are fighting for peanuts and he is an hbo fighter.
hopkins exposed alot of flaws in pavlik's game. but willaims is nothing like hopkins. williams dosent posses the type of counter ouncbing skills and defense that hopkins brings to the table. however williams can take advantage of his handspeed. williams has better handspeed then pavlik who can be kind of slow. hopkins also showed to have better handspeed then pavlik. also williams is a better volume puncher. the fight will come down to one imprtant thing, can williams deal with pavlik's strength? is not, williams will start off good because of his edge in speed but will evetually get worn down and stopped, if williams can deal with pavlik's strength, the williams outpunches him to a decision.
If hermit still have me on ignored, tell him that Pavlik said "if i was invited, i would turn it down cause those fighters are fighting for peanuts."
KP said some things out of anger and frustration that were misquoted and published out of context. He somewhat mishandled a situation that pissed him off. His objections to the money in the tourney are basically correct. He'll makes as much in his next couple fights as the guys in this tourney will make in 4 fights. Pavlik and Williams will both make about the same as the tourney finalists in their fight.
I am not saying this isn't worthy of a fight. I'd rather see Williams fight Pavlik at middleweight than probably any other middleweight at the moment, however, I would of preferred for Williams to get a couple more fights under him at 160 before going directly to Pavlik. On paper Williams can have the style to present some problems to Pavlik, however, Williams faces the biggest disadvantage in that although he is around the same height and has longer arms, he isn't used to competing at 160lbs on a regular basis. This is Pavliks homefield advantage. he's been there the majority of his career and thats where he fights best. It just leaves a big question mark for Williams. I'd rather see Williams get 3 fights at that weight and show that he'd be 100% at the higher weight before going after Kelly. But then again, you have to give credit to team Williams for going for it, its a bold move, and brilliant if they could pull it off.
I prefer pavlik and think he will win. but Williams has a 6-10 wingspan. If he keeps this fight at distance long enough - long day for Pavlik
Every now and then you should actually read the thread your on, and maybe do a little independent research:yep Williams arm length: 25 1/2" Pavlik's arm length: 24 1/2" Whoops! there goes your big reach advantage:nut
