man dont act like you know the circumstances or what really happened. arum says one thing and goosen says another. then PAVLIK himself says another.

bottomline is you dont know the real story.

The real story is pretty easy to piece together. HBO would not buy a Pavlik/Rubio fight, and that started a mad scramble for a fall opponent for Pavlik. Goosen claimed that KP was very high on Paul's list of dream fights, and threw Paul's name in the hat. Pavlik said he did not want to fight a welter, but he would do it if Arum asked him to. Arum offered Paul's team a certain amount of money. Goosen said we need a bit more. Arum went to HBO and got the money. Goosen turned it down even though Arum met his demands. Goosen threw Arum under the bus with HBO, and that is the reason for the heat between them.

Personally, I think it was smart of Goosen to keep Williams away from Pavlik for the time being. I think Paul is very capable of handling 160 as long as he grows into the division the right way. Fighting Winky will be a very good test if that comes off.

I like what he has done (fought Margarito and avenged Quintana loss) but lets not get carried away. The Pavlik and Dzindriuk fights never materialized and he has no opponent scheduled.

No, we don't know the exact cirucmstances, but we DO now there are now two guys that answered his call (Pav and Dzin) and say Paul and Co. didn't really want the fight.

Why would you say PW is everything right about boxing when there are far better choices out there? Marquez? Pacquiao? Nate Campbell? To name a few.

I think its true that some are avoiding PW but it is absurd to by like Kellerman and say everyone is afraid. Clearly, C L E A R L Y, that is not the case.

uhh nice story. and it fits...i'll give u that. but between promoters...there is no telling whats the truth. AND ur point is that goosen kept williams away from pavlik. hermit implied that it was williams that didnt want the fight and thats what i totally disagree it.

I think if Williams wanted that fight, it would have happened because every thing was in place.

Sometimes a fighter needs to be protected from himself! It's my opinion that Williams did want the fight. Goosen initially thought it was okay, and then after taking a closer look at KP changed his mind. That's just my opinion, and I think Goosen did the right thing. Again, this is just my opinion.

Williams has to take risks because he doesn't have much of a fan base.

Shame that he doesn't seem like he's going to go to Germany to face Dzinziruk.

I remember everybody saying the same thing about being avoided a while ago and along came a fairly unknown guy called CQ. He managed to school PW for the full 12 rds. of a one sided match. In the rematch PW pulled the victory in the first rd. Is there any chance at all CQ may have been caught cold (not warm / into the fight yet)?... Maybe these things misteriously don't happen to PW opponents, or @ least, so think his fans!
A rubbermatch is in order. CQ is interested. PW , "the most feared guy in boxing", is playing deaf and blind, while challenging guys that are already booked for now. I wonder if he's going to keep on calling them out when they're finally available or if he's going to turn to the other side and call somebody else in order to keep on playing this game...?
I'm not implying by any means that PW can't repeat again what he did during his rematch with CQ, but he needs more proof . Then again, he can play what Mayweather and RJJ did all of their careers and have his fights handpicked, call themselves great and feared, and all along have a huge fanbase. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE GUYS???? FURTHERMORE, WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEIR FANS??? I , for one, do not feel any simpathy for these guys that do this upon themselves, their legacy, and their fans. This IS what's killing the sport, at least doing major damage... I don't recall any of this happening back in the 80's and before, when the sport of boxing was very well liked and respected.
Anyways, this is just my point of view, and am sure you can disagree to certain extent , but if you open up your eyes, you will at least, see some of the light...

When Paul Williams sits on his punches he is a totally different fighter. I think we will see him do this more and more in the future than he has in the past.

Willims IS everything right with boxing -- fights often against decent opponents.

He will beat Winky but I think he gets caught in 2009 if he steps up the competition. I heard the Ukrainian guy (Dzindziruk) is no joke. Unfortunately, nobody in the US knows him and he doesn't bring much $ to the table.

Mora is not a great test and Spinks is too small. That leaves Vernon Forrest or a move to 160 to fight winner of Pavlik-Abraham.

He's like a throwback fighter who calls out everyone and will fight anyone!
