Wrong.

Fans and media practically ignored Williams' victory over Margarito. It was almost as if the mega hype regarding "The Tijuana Tornado" never happened. Although Williams controlled the twelve round bout with his fast hands and high punch output -- something that no fighter had ever done to Margarito before -- no one talked about a potential Williams-Mayweather match up. Mayweather has recently claimed that money is no longer a factor in his future fights. So a fight with Williams makes all the sense in the world. If "Pretty Boy" truly wants to go down as the best in history, he will need to pass at least one more significant test. A win over Williams would shut up any remaining doubters and it would give Mayweather a victory over a true welterweight (something he's yet to achieve). Although Williams would likely win the fight, at least Mayweather could say he never backed down from a challenge.
So to all fight fans, please call for a Williams-Mayweather match. Mayweather fans will obviously be afraid to do so (after all, they don't want to see their hero get beat), so it will be up to the rest of the boxing world to make the fight happen.
