i'm not sure i get the paul williams experiment... is he trying to do the henry armstrong thing where he holds belts at multiple divisions simultaneously? do the sanctioning bodies even allow that (i.e., say, holding the wbc belt at 154 and the wbo belt at 147 at the same time)?

if so, i'm definitely rooting for him, now that's something i haven't seen in my lifetime... oh wait, i guess the ray leonard-donny lalonde thing but that wasn't quite the same

If he holds a belt at 147 and 154 but decides to stay active at 154 the belt becomes vacant. It can only happen swapping from one division to another with a title in his previous division. If he has another fight at Middleweight next his WBO title will be vacant, you can have one fight up and come back to defend your title down, if you stay up then you're officially making a move to another division and the belt in the weight you're moving up from becomes vacant.
