by offering people big money fights, and claiming that they're scared to fight him when they decline him. And then by fighting lesser opponents in the meantime and knocking them out.

    Its not rocket science.

Isn't that how Margarito made a name for himself?

Maybe he should be fighting a Joshua Clottey. Im sure Clottey would love if that fight got made. Clottey would tap that ass all night and PWs slaps would all be blocked by Clotteys defense.
Its Clottey who poses the biggest threat to MArgo in my opinion. We all saw what Margarito could do if he brought the fight to PW. With his incredible stamina if he does it all since round 1 i expect Margo to stop PW in the later rounds.

I hope you PW fans get your wish and PW and Margo square up.

To who, the fans who care about how much the fighters make, who's ducking who, and the soap opera behind the scenes? What percentage of the viewers do you think spends 4 hours a day posting about boxing on the internet? It's a clever point you make, as usual, Pharaoh, but getting ducked doesn't make you a star, big breakthrough wins make you a star. We know that.

How come Williams beat Margo while Clottey lost to him?

Beating Cotto is what made Margarito a star. I'll get to the point.

Being that he hasn't fought since the Cotto fight, isn't it safe to assume that we don't know yet whether or not he's a star? Anyway, that fight may have made him a star but he used the reps of other fighters in order to build up his name. Everytime he fought on HBO, Lampley would make a a point to say how Mayweather and Mosely turned down alleged $8 mill offers to fight Margo. I've been a big boxing fan for a while. However, I didn't start paying attention to Margo until the whole thing with Floyd came up. Top Rank's allegations that Floyd, Mosley, and even Winky ducked Margo helped to build his name.

It's crazy how you can beat a guy then it's you that has to step up your star power to get a fight real fighters want to avenge their loss so I hope Margo does fight him like he said he would on telefutra

I believe its a combination of things.
-Margarito was looking ahead at a Cotto match up. There was also talks about Arum not wanting Margarito to fight PW and fight Cotto instead and Margarito said he would take Arum to court just to make the PW fight happen so he could keep his belt. Margarito undertrained because of this.
-Margarito threw over 1600 punches in that fight. That shows determination and its hard to beat a guy who throws that many punches so Clottey lost.
-PW was probably in the best shape of his life for this fight since it was his biggest fight. So we had a Margarito focused on Cotto and PW in tiptop shape for this fight
-Margarito started way way too slow. I scored this fight for PW because Margarito started late but when he did start he was doing damage while PW was just flicking his punches not doing any damage. Margarito started halfway through the fight and almost had PW out in the 11th round.
-In a rematch to both fighters i see Margarito stopping PW late and having a very tough fight against Clottey and maybe even losing it to him just because Clotteys defense is damn good.

Good post setting aside the excuse of looking past Williams and toward the Cotto fight and that he almost had Williams out in the 11th round...

Well the were both handling Margo fairly easy early in thier fights, but Williams was the one able to hold on and actaully win the fight....Im sure without the hand injuries Clottey too would have beatten Margo..

The best thing for Margo to do is stay away from both, I dont think that he would beat either:good
