You're saying paul williams, who beat Margarito, Winky Wright, Canlos Quintana, and Martinez, has no skills? I mean come on.
Has terrific heart and will, but his technical skills are absolutely horrible. He throws uppercuts and hooks out of range with his chin in the air, doesn't know how to use his ridiculous advantages of reach and height. Sadly, he is so far gone at this point that these things will never be fixed.
I think Williams has more skill, though his defence is leaky enough that a prime Mayorga would probably put his lights out.
The backlash here is very amusing. op What the OP is conveying, if I'm not mistaken, is that neither relies so much on pure boxing skill. Mayorga relies on his power and the unorthodoxy of his aggressive style, while Williams relies on his athleticism and the other advantages of proportion that he holds over most opponents. Both have underrated boxing skill by those who exaggerate how much they rely on the above factors (and because both have some stupid recurring habits that belie their fundamental base), but then neither is going to be confused with a Sugar Ray.
**** your deceiving poll....i didnt realize you put "whos more terrible"....Paul williams is WAY better than mayorga...what a stupid question
He is. People who want to harp on his penchant for wild haymakers need only review the rounds where he outboxed Vernon Forrest to be humbled into quietude.
I like Paul h2h but if he gets caught by one of those wild swinging feet crossed off balance throw your whole body in to the punch with weird technique than he goin down
I think both are exelent fighters with diffrent styles. Mayorga is fun to watch and Williams is very skilled this post is a joke....
