Paul Williams = Over Rated Hype Job

I sometimes think that only myself, Ron Borges and you see this.

The guy throws hundreds of punches and seems to miss 80% of them.

 

Martinez is a much bigger challenge than Williams. PW is to stupid to do anything other than camp out in front of KP, and that would lead to a 5 round beating. Sergio on the other hand knows how to think on his feet, and implement a fight plan. Pavlik TKO in 10-11 rounds.

 

Rematch is the best thing for these guys right now. Since neither emerged as dominant over the other, their marketability for a future Mayweather fight has gone down.

 

I'v researched the punch stats to a certain extent. PW's connect rate rarely exceeds 24% in a given round. Of course, a lot of my numbers came from compubox, and compubox is usually way off, so Paul's real connect rate is probably 18-20% on average.

 

they both fought a great fight, lots of heart from both...I did question that one judege who gave Williams like 11 rds to Martinezs' only 1..
I personally saw it as a draw, but 7 rds to 5 either way is fine for me

 

Pavlik would look like an idiot fighter that will be throwing nothing but air if he face Martinez. Pavlik is not faster then Williams and don't throw punches in every angles like Williams. And Pavlik ain't a southpaw. If you think Hopkins easily beat Pavlik was bad enough, wait of what Martinez would do to Pavlik if Martinez vs Pavlik happens down the road. Williams i still pick him to beat Pavlik. Williams will get off first most of the time vs way easy to hit Pavlik.

 

exactly. the worst thing about bull**** posts like this is it takes all the credit away from both fighters. they both fought an excellent fight last night and showed us all why we love boxing so much.

yeah because it is easy to throw 100 punches a round and destroy people with ko's late while doing it

 

lol sergio is a nice fighter but he is no bhop and much smaller

 

Just a nice fighter? He is as slick like Hopkins. He might be more slicker then Hopkins cause when he keeps his hands down, he's still very hard to hit cleanly. And Martinez won't hold many times to avoid to get hit like Hopkins does most of the time.

 

This is the problem when people listen to the HBO announcers ..I never beleived Williams was as dangeous as they made him out to be but some people think that their word is gospel ! Its the reason people use to hang off every word merchant said !!

Williams will be fine they hyped him up as much as Margarito ..And look at the end result ..Sometimes its good to formulate ones own opinion as opposed to listening to a bunch of broadcasters who have never stepped foot in the ring !

Imagine if that was Pavlik in there catching Williams ..Look its great if u can throw 1000 punches a rd but when yoru target moves on you your an average fighter ..
