i think he would... i dont see floyd throwing enough punches to keep pw off him... or taking as many risks as quintana or martinez did
He's a fun fighter to watch, but he's not all that. And he hasn't improved much since the Quintana loss. Proven to be no fluke at all.
i disagree with the thread starter it was a good fight...pw isn't overhyped, like someone stated on paper he is easily the most avoided not necessarily b/c he's so great but b/c of his size advantage and his mega high output of punches...unfortunately i bet boxers like floyd jr could beat him but think its not worth the headache when they can fight someone else for bigger draw and purse! oh yeah i quoted these pics b/c it's funny as hell lmao but i'm sure you can find stills of martinez receiving some heavy blows as well.
Paul Williams is the most hyped B- level fighter of all time. He owes Martinez a re-match. As far as I'm concerned, Martinez won that fight in my eyes. W to Sergio L to Paul.
Okay, I'll be serious here, so bear with me. Walk With Me, Neck Breakin Aiken, Sues2nd, many other posters, and 3/4 of the boxing media have been hyping PW as some sort of masterboxer in the same class with PBF, Hopkins, et. We even had posters on here who defended Paul's claim that he would knock Tommy Hearns out. The truth is that Paul Williams is a fairly simple pressure fighter. A simple style does not make a fighter easy to beat. Abraham, Margarito, Pavlik, and Froch, for example, have very simple styles, but they sure as **** ain't easy to beat. Very few people would claim that any of those guys are master boxers, but people did make that claim about Williams, repeatedly. Paul Williams is not a big puncher above 147, but we had people on here claiming he would knock Pavlik out with ease. Ya, PW was suppose to stop a guy who took repeated flush bombs from Zuniga, Miranda, Taylor, and Hopkins. It was an outrageous claim, and last night proved just how outrageous it was. The truth is that prior to last night Williams had never faced a world class opponent above 147. We saw what happened when he did. The internet myth said Williams has improved with every fight. Last night proved he has not. He still has sloppy and inaccurate offense, and his chin is still his primary defense. Paul Williams is an exciting, world class, fighter who will be somewhere around the top of the sport for several more years. He's just not the Godzilla-Whitaker hybrid people tried to turn him in to.
Well he didn't "easily" beat Pavlik but he did outbox Pavlik in which he make Pavlik look very silly. I said Martinez will make Pavlik look like a 1 dimensional fighter and damn it i was right.
Martinez beat Williams without even having time to train for that fight. Imagine if Martinez had had time to train. Martinez had time to train for Pavlik. Williams refused to rematch Martinez. Next time Martinez will knock Williams out. Pavlik would knock Williams out also.
