I agree, but the stance of most boxing fans is that Cotto, Mosely, and everyone else in the welterweight division ducked Paul because they were afraid of him. Now, suddenly people are asserting that Paul is a coward for calling out Pacquiao, who just destroyed Cotto, while at the same time NO one would have asserted that Paul was a coward for calling out Cotto, quite the reverse, actually. My stance is that Williams is freakishly huge for a welter and it's almost unfair to ask ANYONE at the weight to fight him, but thems the breaks and if Paul can get to 147 then anyone else campaigning there is fair game, including Pacman.
yeah he s alot taller than pac- but so what- tyson was like 5'10" - shorter than PW even!!?! i swear- people overrate height and reach so much in here. and generally i think. time and time again- its been proven - the two most important attributes for a fighter to have - are skill and speed. and power close behind. in fact- i would put it like bruce lee once did. the three factors in a fight- are speed------power-------skill. thats it. whoever has two of the three will win the fight- every time. im just getting tired of people saying so and so is too big- whatsisname is too long- he s too solid- has the bigger frame- yadaydadayada. look back at the past year- no the past 5 years in boxing. when has size trumped skill and speed?!?!? floyd > oscar pac >oscar, ricky, cotto haye > valuev hopkins >tarver roy > ruiz yet everytime- we act surprised when a skilled small man beats a stronger bigger man. and yet- everytime- when it comes time to place a bet- we revert to the old ignorant instinct- to pick the bigger guy in a fight. i think you have to go back to hopkins over oscar to see the last guy who was much bigger - beat a smaller - quicker guy- but then - according to my formula- he had advantages in both power and skill. ;-) trust me- that formula works damn well- its proved me right in my betting every time- i swear. with floyd manny- its tricky though. manny has more power- no doubt, floyd has better skills ( debatable- but defence is more valuable than offence- so he has the edge - clearly but close)- however speed is whats making this close. whomever is faster- in hands and feet- will win.
i wud be shocked if paul williams can make 147 again, as boxers age they naturally fill out. the guy is like 6"2 , thats very hard to come down to 147. im surprise that magarcheeto ever made 147 cus he's pretty tall too at 5"11
WOW! How brave of Williams. He would probably have the temerity to additionally suggest/demand that Pac meet him up at a catch weight of 150.
This just in...Pavlik just called out Pacquiao over at the scene he just said he wants to prove he is a P4P calibur fighter by fighting the best. Wow...Pavlik is a warrior
Pac is a lightweight pretending as welterweight while PW is a SMW pretending as welterweight, PW naturally enjoys to many physical advantages with height and reach being the more pronounced. At his more comfortable weight, Pac has a chance but it is next to impossible for him to beat Williams.
Pac's power shots that KOd Hatton and dropped Cotto can flatten Williams but the problem is how Pac could land those shots on a guy enjoying 8" height and 14" reach advantages.:huh
