I wonder if it's gone? if it is...i think he needs to hang it up even tho it pains me so say it. He's my favorite fighter...but that was one of his best attributes. Unless he can turn into Floyd Mayweather or James Toney before his next fight...he doesnt have a chance against any big puncher.

I hope he is able to recover

I do not think his punch resistance is the problem. The problem is his lack of defensive prowess. He's just way to easy to hit.

That punch would've knocked out anyone. Just like booboo said, the problem is that he's so open all the time. He has the worst defense in the sport (at the top level).

Ge got hit with the same punch over and over again. After the first round HBO showed a slow-mo of Martinez pounding Williams on the ropes with left hooks to the chin and chest.

I agree if his punch resistance is gone then he's done as a top fighter. It's like a glass-chinned Margarito or a Calzaghe without stamina. You take away their key attributes and they're not elite fighters anymore.

no defense at all. if that punch permanently cracked his jaw then that's the end of his career in the highest levels

Why would he need to quit? He's still young and got skills.

Too many boxing fans expect boxers to retire after losing. It's no wonder boxers are ducking each other.
