Paul Williams ready to turn 29 and has accomplished very little

Funny most ******s still saying Martinez got robbed in the Williams fight in which the same Martinez actually thought the fight could go either way.

Would the boxing politics even let Williams be? He doesn't look like he has the best personality to sell tickets...

 

Cintron clearly STATED he had the WIND KNOCKED OUT OF HIM when he FELL on a TV monitor and a TABLE OUTSIDE A RING. This isn't WWE, Cintron isn't train to fall. When you have a 6"3 man fall on you and pushes you towards the rope, what do you expect? You have to be an IMBECILE to believe Cintron wanted to STOP fighting, he was kicking his ass...and I like how you won't admit that being the ignorant fool you are. Once Cintron caught his BREATHE, clearly the medical staff wouldn't let him go, thus ending the fight. Cintron should of been given more time and Williams didn't deserve the W, if anything the W should of went to Cintron to winning 3-1 at worst 2-2 which would of resulted in a DRAW, and thats all but fair. It was a BAD night for boxing and you're just a Williams nuthugger to avoid the facts your boy got his ass exposed that night.

 

This is a stupid thread. Martinez is 35 and his success is coming late in his career so has he done nothing either?:roll: He is a great fighter that had short notice to fight Williams, but he still took the fight and he got beat in a close fight by Williams. You could say they are close to equals.

As for accomplishments, that doesn't mean **** if you are a 6 division champion fighting fighters that are weak. I would rather be a 1 or 2 time world champion having won in one division, but having beat some of the best fighters in my division. You can't fool the fans. Martinez is a tough man to beat. Of course Williams wasn't going to look good doing it and I doubt even the likes of Mayweather or Pacquiao would look good beating Martinez either.

 

Paul Williams has had a good career. The only place I object, generally, with assessments of his ability, is when people view him as superior to the top guys at Welterweight such as Floyd, Mosley, and Pacquiao.

at this stage in his career he needs that marquee name to take him the next step into the limelight....and Cotto is just the guy to do it a stiff challenge but very winnable and Cotto brings a very good name...he needs that type of....to continue to beat fighters such as the Clottey's and the Margo's or Collazo's..even Martinez brings him nothing as those fighters themselves are not marquee....Paul needs a marquee name that is a prime fight and to be honest the one true solid fight to fit that is Cotto.

 

Meh, people make too many exceptions for that kid emmanuel just because he's the smallest welterweight. If he's good enough to hold a welterweight strap then he should be held to the same standards out of respect for his skills. It's weightclasses not heightclasses.

 

It's time Williams quit cheating and he also needs to fight rematches that he lost.

 

pac aint a welterweight and shouldnt have that title but that fight with williams will never happen.

 

Williams is overrated.

 

He has several notable wins. I think, with some more, Williams can become a memorable fighter.

He has beaten prime Margarito, Cintron, Phillips.

He has a controversial decision, but a win, over Martinez.

He was ducked by Pavlik.

He has a win over an old Winky Wright.

Give Williams 6 or 7 more good wins and you have a great career. By the time he's 32, Williams will have accomplished that.

 

You Let's see, he beat Margarito when everyone was afraid to fight him, beat Wright, Martinez and such, and no one wants to fight him. Sure, he is flawed, but he has accomplished quite a bit. No one wants to fight him, that's why he seems to have accomplished very little. He is a two-division champ, though. Maybe your expectations are too high.
