Well of course they do, because of national or ethnic pride. I didn't say it was a bad thing. I just said I cannot take someone serious when they are like that.

And there is a difference between defending a guy and just outright dismissing his legitimate opposition. The way Margarito is treated for example. If asking joyboys what they think of Margarito you'd think this man was a club fighter who never did anything or beat anyone. That's how ridiculous their slant is and is nowhere near indicative of the truth. And anyone Margarito beats is a bum or exposed in some way. Because it's impossible this man who challenged Mayweather can be this good. As I said, not to be taken seriously.

Why does everything with you turn into an issue about Mayweather and joyboys?

Damn! How did i miss this thread! I gotta find me another job that will allow me to not miss the important ****!

Good reading! And of course, I will offer my two cents.

Regardless of someone's race, there is a definite tendency to be more tolerant of people's bull**** antics when they are one of your own. Everyone is kidding themselves if they sit here and say they haven't rooted for fighters of their own race, nationality, or ethnicity. I don't find anything wrong with Mexicans who shout Viva Mexico! everytime A MExican fighter whips some ass (which they do a lot of)... But don't get crazy when black folks do the same thing. It's not that big of a deal if you ask me.

I rooted like hell for Margarito, in a bar full of black folks in DC, many of which have PRican ties. I was the only one. I didn't care. I was just rooting for him, because of his style, and because I know deep down he is the only welter who has the guts to buck Bob Arum and give my boy Paul a shot. HE will give him a shot, and everyone probably knows that. But we all expected him to make do with his promise on getting back in there with Paul the first time he gets a chance. (Stated by his manager in front of numerous people outside the doctor's headquarters in the Home Depot) That's why I rib him so much, because I honestly feel like he (meaning his mgmt.) has had ample opportunity to understand that Oscar ain't fighting him.

As far as Quintana, he DEFINITEY didn't overlook Paul, as he stated at the weigh-in that he has no idea why he is the underdog after beating Paul last time. He seemed pretty irritated about it, and was out to prove his critics wrong. He is really a cool cat, by the way.

So basicly becuase Jack says **** like this its okay? meaning Jack isnt racist becuase you personally know him outside of the internet?
Get real that **** is racist and weather he means it or not doesnt not make it racist its how the man reading that bull**** takes it that makes it racist or not.
The majority will argue it is racist, there for should no be excused nor put up with, you justifying it makes me really wonder about you as a person.

    Not everything.

For example I've been called a racist by Eastern fans because of the way I dog the older Klitschko brother, Chagaev and Maskaev.

Joyboys are just the worst of the bunch. Worse than Klitco infact.

I AGREE with most of what you said however i disagree that Quintana didntget caught cold and overconfident just like PW said that he had an "off night" then why cant the same escuse pertain to Quintana? Now im not saYING that Carlos would win the 3rd fight but in my book they are 1-1 and people tend to erase the fact the Quintana surprised many people (including myself )when he boxed PW's ears off 1st time then PW k.o's him .....i mean I personally would like to see them square off for a 3rd fight(even though it wont be financially great). And i would have to go with PW on a late stoppage maybe the 10th rd

I like how the Williams haters and Margo defenders came into this thread and tried to rail road it to get off the topic. Which is why in the hell is MArgo ducking Williams and a shot at the WW championship and a career high payday for Joshua "****ing" Clottey or Zab Judah.

Its a damn shame. The man is a chicken.

    ---
As for the race thing, I liked Paul Williams because of the way he fought, the fact that he was a black American was icing on the cake.

Carlos was offered a rubber match. And despite what people want to believe, he absolutely did not commit to it. He said "Paul is a tough fight. I may want to wait and see" That, my friend, is a little too tentative of an answer, especially when someone just took your belt. And Margarito was offered a rematch, but he said "only if Bob Arum is the promoter because Goosen will rob me again" :huh What is a fighter supposed to care about who the promoter is? :-(

As far as coming in cold, Quintana's problem wasn't that he came in cold, it's that he came in too aggressive. Some of his people were bragging all weekend that he was going to knock Paul out. :rofl That 3-piece he hit him with in the center of the ring was no lucky shot. HE had that open for him the entire first fight and didn't recognize it. It would have been there for him time and time again the second fight.

And also, by your logic, Margarito is 0-1 against Paul. If He doesn't want to rematch him, then he is NOT the top welterweight until he does. Especially since it was recently.

Another moron with a racist agenda. You like Paul because the way he fought? He fights alot like Margarto most times. His being black wasn't the icing on the cake for you. It was the cake *****!

I never heard Margo say that? That is incredible, wasn't the Williams fight his career highest payday at the time?

The only thing similar about him and Margarito is at times they both throw a lot of punches, other than that there is no way in which they are alike.

Why are you so sensitive towards race though, what does it matter to you?

He meant "robbed" as in the decision by the judges. Which is so ****in ridiculous! He may have felt he won, like most fighters do, but for him to whine and **** like he was robbed is pretty juvenile!

They both have shitty defense and throw alot of punches. Both tend to be flatfooted. The only difference is Williams is a little younger and a little bigger. If you like Williams and don't like Margarito then something else is up, for sure.
