Paul Williams isn't the one who canceled the fight because of an injured finger and fought Lockett's sister instead.

 

It's obvious Williams' handlers, and probably PW himself felt it would be best to go back and learn some more. He's not quite ready for someone with the size and power of Pavlik. He still needs to grow in 160 a bit.
He also needs to learn how to box and use his height. A guy with his size and length should not fight the way he does.
PW has great recuperative powers, but he can be hurt. He needs to shore up his defense, because he didn't react well to Martinez' big punches. A guy like Pavlik could take his head off.
Pavlik is doing nothing with his career right now. He is fighting C-level fighters and calling out Welterweights after being chased by said Welterweight. He needs to fight the top Middleweights and prove himself. The only he has proven is that he can knock out bums. Instead of calling out Willams after the fact, he should try to fight Sturm or Mundine. Oh, wait! They actually know how to box, so scratch these fighters off the possible opponent list. So you are saying that Kelly can't find good opponents because HBO won't pay for them? I'm pretty sure they could make the Mundine fight if Kelly wanted it to happen. At least if Mundine turned the fight down, Kelly could brag that he was scared.

 

Since when has PTP ever been known as one to hide? Just a month ago he was engaged in an all out war against an elite opponent, something that Pavlik hasn't been able to say for over a year now. He sustained some bad cuts so I would imagine that he's still probably licking his wounds.

 

It is a business sweety. No playoff system. HBO gives a list of fighters and the money they will pay.

Martinez deserved the win, by far. Martinez deserves a rematch in neutral territory without Williams' judges and referee. Martinez made Williams look like a damned fool!
