A lot of people seem to think that Paul is a dominant pound for pound fighter who has ruled all divisions from welterweight to light middleweight. However, his record is not that impressive. The biggest names he has on it are Ronald Wright and Antonio Margarito. Both were decision wins. You have to remember that Wright was inactive for a long time and is an old fighter. Also, the fight with Margarito was close as Margarito started slow but put the pressure in the final rounds. Quintana, not an elite fighter, was able to out point Williams. Don't get me wrong, Williams is still young and since he can fight in any of those divisions he could very well become a top pound for pound fighter, he just isn't there yet. With names in those divisions such as Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, Andre Berto, Joshua Clottley, Sergio Martinez, and Vernon Forrest, Williams should be fighting them. I know there are fighters who do not want to fight him but that is just bad luck. Until he actually proves himself against fighters of this caliber, Williams cannot be considered on the elite levl yet.

What Paul needs to do is establish himself at 154 or 160. And to answer your thread question, NO, he is not the most feared fighter.

I don't like the most feared fighter "title" for any boxer, Margarito was supposedly and we know how that ended? So to be honest with you, a fighter that other fighters duck consistently would probably be the most ducked not "feared".

    Donaire.

Montiel was supposed to fight him but bailed. Darchinyan got ktfo but his team doesn't want a rematch. He's been shouting for a unification in his division but the other champs don't want it.

Paul Williams is not that ducked. Pavlik was gonna fight him but team Williams didn't like the purse (which was over 1.5 Million), and Dzinziruk actually called him out even though he is the one with the belt. And now Jushua Clottey wants to take on Paul Williams too

roy jones didnt want to fight him
shane doesnt want to fight him
    clottey got denied by hbo
bhop doesnt want to fight him
    cotto is busy
    floyd is busy
    berto wouldnt fight him
    they are looking into dzindurik
he would fight calzaghe if he could ( obviously calzaghe is not going to come out )

Nobody fears Paul. He's just a freak of nature so he's 'high risk/low reward' as Gatekeeper put it.

He should fight Chavez Jr.! LOL.

I think he does deserve to be the fringes of "elite", however you would categorize that.

He has been, and could in theory compete across 3 weights. And you wouldn't make him a large underdog against anybody, more often than not he'd be a favourite. That is elite capability for sure.

His resume is not there yet, but its not bad either. Quintana and Verno Phillips are two B level guys. Margarito was a top welterweight. Winky-Wright was an elite fighter in his day, he is getting on and was inactive, taken into account, but Williams did a real impressive job on him too like nobody else has.

I look at the p4p rankings right now. I don't think you could make a conclusive case that Caballero deserves to be there over him. You could debate Darchinyan and Donaire also.

Margarito passed up a 4 million dollar payday to rematch PTP. Hard to call that a "low reward".
