I'm starting to agree with some, maybe he should try his luck at 154 in the meantime unless he can get a cotto or margarito fight that will generate interests or money. Here are some interesting fighters he can take a stab at 154: -Sergio Mora (the unoffical man at 154 now that he has the belt and quality win over forrest) -Sergiy Dzinziruk (has a win over santos as well as a belt I havent seen this guy but he has a win over santos and that must count for something) -Daniel Santos (solid fighter at 54 and if he were to win he has even more bragging rights to stick at marg) -Vernon Forrest (Always a threat to any guy especially at 54) -Corey Spinks (Boring yet a guy that can make alot of good fighters look bad tricky style) -Joel Julio (One of the most exciting guys at 54 along with kirkland who packs a solid punch which could make for an exciting fight in boxing) -James Kirkland (I would wait till he wins a belt or so, so this fight can get real interesting)
Was thinking the same thing. I think this is a stupid move. There's no point to fight this guy, makes no sense.
Great, Paul should move up, he's sick skinny at 147, although I still think we will see him fight Margarito by 2009.
Earlier in the thread I pointed out the I would like to see PTP fight Mayorga and the main reason was for the exposure. Mayorga still can attract casual boxing fans and he were to fight PTP, some of his fans would be introduced to PTP for the first time. It's also a fight that would make PTP look good in and would setup a potential PPV, that could do some good numbers, against either Margo or Cotto in 09. Your list lacks a name that the casual fan really knows. I personnally think Kirkland is on is way to achieving massive recognition but he isn't there quite yet. If I had to pick one name for PTP to fight on your list, I'd go with Santos only because he defeated Margo and if PTP was able to beat him it would add to the storyline of a possible PTP/Margo rematch.
Sure get on the guy for staying at 147 than get on the guy for moving up to middlweight for one fight. Paul Williams can't win on this board.
Well, he CLAIMED he wanted Pavlik at 160. Until Arum met his asking price. When asked what happened Arum just shrugged like he had now idea. :rofl
Lots of folks, like Mundine, moving to middle expecting Pavlik and Abraham to move up after their fight.
